I wasn't posting this in response to your post. I was just surprised to see this in the story because I didn't read it anywhere in the thread.Gameover wrote:jmra wrote:Did I miss this part?
“Private collectors will be setting up a mini-market place right there,” Baker explained. But he said the guns will not be re-sold. “We will run all of the serial numbers by Dallas police. Any firearms that come back stolen will be returned to Dallas police so that they can be returned to their owners. Any guns that were involved in a crime will be returned to the Dallas police for them to further their investigation.”
No you didn't miss it, neither did I. My point is I think the media will twist this in a bad way and we dont need anymore of that. I will be there to show my support and just wanted to be clear on what I'm attending.

Parking will be available to the immediate south and west for two dollars (the lots are owned by others) if the lot we leased is full.
The mini market place quote is not what was said and they completely skipped the rally part of the deal but that is to be somewhat expected. I do, however, hope that some firearms can be saved from the church and I think that there are others that share this sentiment.
The news reported the sensational aspect of the rally and left out the rest. It did get the rally quite a bit of publicity and I don't see where that is a bad thing.

If I sell you a laptop computer on private property, what legal authority does a Dallas cop have to search it without consent?
If I sell you a firearm on private property, what legal authority does a Dallas cop have to search it without consent?
If I sell you a paper bag and the contents on private property, what legal authority does a Dallas cop have to search it without consent?

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
Here is the schedule.
10am to 2pm - Firearm Marketplace. All firearms that people wish to allow us to adopt will be sold to the peron of of the sellers choice as they come in. The transaction itself will be between the buyer and the owner of the firearm. This seems to be the way to handle it in order for all to have an equal shot at obtaining a firearm and have fun at the same time. We will have pre-printed bills of sale for those who wish to have one
2pm to 3 or 4pm - 2nd Amendment Rally. We have a few guest speakers lined up to address Constitutional issues and future plans for the movement.
The Dallas Police have thus far shown zero interest in checking serial numbers on the firearms to be sold. If they do decide to help, the serial numbers on all firearms will be checked BEFORE the firearm is sold. This way no one will be out any money.
I hope the story that CBS ran does not discourage people from coming. This will be a great way to support what we believe, as well as keep some decent firearms safe from those that hope to destroy them.

The site will not let me message you. I would like to ask if you would be willing to help in certain ways. PM me if possible please. I would consider it an honor if you did.

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
A table should be set up with a 2 chairs and a large sign that says "Free Dallas Police Department Stolen Weapons Check."
A letter should be faxed, as well as a phone call today to the Police Department asking them to man the booth for short 2 hours.
If they don't choose to man the booth, whoever is the media spokesperson needs to stand in front of the EMPTY booth and explain DPD was extended the offer to man the booth with the potential of getting stolen guns of the street and did nothing. How serious is the Dallas Mayor or Police Department about reducing gun violence if they can't even show up for 2 hours?
If they do choose to man the booth, whoever is the media spokesperson should stand in front of the booth, with the police checking weapons in the back ground while touting the fact the everyone in attendance at the rally are just supporters of the 2nd Amendment, and that upstanding gun owners don't want to see stolen guns on the street either.

I really, REALLY want to be there. I'm just not sure if I can make it. It's Shabbat and I run sound at synagogue so I'm kinda needed. That being said, *IF* I can manage it, I'll be there.

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
They'd probably make you hire an off duty officer for this. . . they won't dedicate a patrolman to a private event.steveincowtown wrote:A letter should be faxed, as well as a phone call today to the Police Department asking them to man the booth for short 2 hours.
Most cities will let you hire an off duty officer for $35-40 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours (you can always offer more if you don't get any takers or because it's last minute). Check with DPD to find out. If you get one, he should be able to do the serial number checks.
If you don't do it this time, it's a thought for the future. . .

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
Hmmm. A bunch of "right-wing gun nuts" with guns, gathering in one place and buying guns? Nope. I'm pretty sure DPD will have an officer or 3 there regardless. Maybe not for the booth.....fickman wrote:They'd probably make you hire an off duty officer for this. . . they won't dedicate a patrolman to a private event.

I've contacted the DPD about the serial number checks and they said they would call me back. No call yet.
Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
My daughter and I will be there :)
Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
Schucks!! I wish I would have found this place sooner. I googled "pro gun rally Dallas" to get here and it is now 1 o:clock so I am too late but I had a thought.
Is this property leased for a year? Why don't we have a rally/gun buyback there once a month. I would gladly donate money for the lease. Heck we could even do some kind of community outreach at the same time like a BBQ/soup line for the homeless or something.
Just a tought, I'm just bummed I missed today.
