I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

I think that's one of those old-fashoned things where they used to print outdated "news" on sheets of thin paper, and sell them for small amounts of money. This obviously took significant amounts of time, and therefore the "news" was totally out of date by the time it got to the public. "rlol"
If I'm not mistaken, these archaic forms of disseminating information were replaced by town criers. The news was alot more current because there was no longer a need to print and distribute tons of paper. The main positive of the old system was that the establishment could control the flow of information to their subjects, thereby keeping them content and avoiding displeasantness like getting thrown out of office for utterly failing to do anything you were elected to do.
And later, those town criers went to work for them new-fangled television stations...

Maybe you do. I get my news from the cranky old men at the coffee shop:
Gent #1: "That dad-burned ol' librul news media is gonna ruin this country. Lookit how they luuuv Obammer!"
Gent #2: "Yup."
Gent #3: "Didja hear they're poisinin' Glenn Beck?"
Gent #4: "Wouldn't surprise me if'n it wadn't Katie Couric her-own-self doin' it."

It would be funny if it weren't so true.

The hyperbole of it - not the actual content. Though I do have my suspicions about the media in general.
"I don't know how that would ever be useful, but I want two!"

Springs are cheap - your gun and your life aren't.

I find it amusing that bill white has made the expensive rental that perry is staying in while the governors mansion is being renovated. white says he'll move a trailer in and live in it if he is elected, is there anyone that doesn't view this as merely a political stunt? Most politicians are such hypocrites.

Here is an excerpt from a june story from the chronical of whites assets . Looks like he is used to the mobile home lifestyle, NOT intended to flame those that may live in a mobile home, just pointing out hypocrisy...

White's campaign provided the following summary of assets and liabilities for White and his wife, Andrea:

• Liquid net worth as of April 30, 2010 – consisting of cash, publicly traded stocks and mutual funds – with a market value of approximately $2,700,000.

• Non-residential real property with an estimated value of $250,000 to $350,000.

• Approximately $400,000 in common stock and mutual funds in a deferred compensation account, representing income earned before 2004 and paid out in ten annual installments.

• IRA accounts with an approximate value of $2 million invested in common stocks and mutual funds.

• A self-employed retirement account valued at approximately $500,000 invested in publicly-traded stocks and mutual funds.

• A limited partnership interest in a private equity partnership with an estimated value of $250,000 to $500,000.

• Their Houston home with an appraised value of $2,120,195, on which there is a first-lien mortgage of approximately $550,000.

• A 527 college savings account for their youngest child in an approximate amount of $60,000.

I have a friend with a wrecker business, if White is elected and moves into a mobile home, while he sleeps, we need to find a barge to China we can park it on.

Neither. This year I went out on a limb to prove a point. There doesn't have to be just a 2 party system.

HarleyDave- Don't know anything about what kind of car he drives, but he does own an LCP with a laser site as well as a whole bunch of other firearms. Ruger came out with a special edition that sold out real fast to comemorate the gov's battle with Wiley Coyote. I understand that people were lined up at McBrides in Austin to buy the things.

Oh well, at least he was not attacked by a rabbit like Jimma Carter was!

People need to stop voting for the Democrats and Republicans because they are the problem and that doesn't mean vote for the TEA Party. The TEA Party is a bit questionable too because they all of a sudden show up after Obama gets into office. They are supposed to be for the constitution so where were they prior to that? Perry or White? Doesn't matter which of them gets into office they both work for special interests. They are bought and paid for. I am voting for Kathie Glass. I know a lot of people in Texas think Rick Perry is some great guy because he talks with a fake Texan accent and talks about succession and shoots coyotes with his LCP but you need to learn how to see past the smoke and mirrors. That guy works for the private special interests and you are not part of that club.
