:iagree: The news people don't understand the law, they are not objective and don't report the facts. They aren't very logical and they prey on emotions.

I have read in this forum many times that if you use your gun you will be arrested and a grand jury will decide. Although I do not believe all of that
in the case of Zimmerman there is enough evidence be it hear say or what ever that he should have been arrested and a hearing held.

They are allowing this guy to walk the streets and the "law" in that small town has done nothing. All that does is fan the flames of racism
and whatever.

He should be detained at the least.

If all what we have heard in the news is incorrect and in effect this guy had nothing to do with this I will be greatly surprised.

If anything threatens our right to bear arms is a few more loons doing this and a few more that defend his actions. We will then deserve to lose
our rights because we as a society have proven that we just cannot handle it.

Time for a rant. ;-)

We (as a collective) will NEVER deserve to lose our right to self defense. It is an inalienable right, not granted by government, but a natural right for a man to be capable of defending himself, his family and his property with the best tools available. The behavior of some loon in Florida has NO bearing on my right to carry a weapon for my protection, period. Now the govt may at some point decide we don't "deserve" to carry arms. And at that point we get to decide if that govt "deserves" to make any decisions. :patriot:

Rant off.

Grow up!! We are not supposed to be walking the streets armed looking for people to shoot or crimes to solve.

It is people like Zimmerman and Novaman that will eventually take away our rights and ruin our way of life.

All it takes is the Supreme Court to overturn the 2nd Amendment then you can go to the hills with the rest of your supporters.

I have read a few posts here to give me the belief that many think what was done was murder. A 17 yo is dead for apparently no reason
and the shooter is still walking around without anything being done.

Grow up!!

Wow. Before you start accusing me of being like Zimmerman, perhaps you'd like to check out my posts in this thread:
http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php? ... 16&start=0

Don't know that was about. All I did was state that rights are NATURALLY GIVEN RIGHTS....not granted to me by a government. :headscratch :headscratch :headscratch

Edit: One more thing. You call him a murderer and then put me in with him?

1) Any skimming of my posts would show you the distain I have for those who consider a CHL to be a cop badge and a charge to go out and "do good"

2) Comparing me to him is disgusting and insulting. :nono:

Again, grow up!! Maybe god gave you your rights but the govt. can take them away.

I know they will have to pry open your cold dead hands. Right!!

That and all the other garbage that people say. It may sound good but it is all hogwash.

They had better get on the stick in Sanford, Florida and do something. I forgot it may not be
Sanford it may be Miami or maybe not even Florida. You know how the news is!!

This has been going on now for a few days it was not just breaking news 10 min ago.

What I am amazed about is that it took roughly 3 weeks for this to eventually hit the fan, and there has been minimal unrest. Restraint is a good thing. There is too much misinformation being shared on all sides. Far better for the local and state police to investigate thoroughly and make a recommendation, but I've heard the 911 tapes, heard the operator tell Z to cool it, the kid begging for his life, and then the police finding no reason to arrest.....where's Andy when you need him. A little objective common sense would be helpful.

Just wow.

Protip: telling people to "grow up" is not a mature discussion tactic. :tiphat:

Edit: and Id still appreciate an apology for lumping me in with Zimmerman. That was both unfounded and uncalled for.

Two points of contention, in my personal opinion. First off, when talking about given rights and invoking the Almighty, I always capitalize it like so: God. I haven't been much of a church-goer in a long time, but I still try to give respect where I believe it to be due. Second, in reference to the highlighted text in your reply to 74novaman, the government CANNOT take away God given rights. They CAN block you from exercising said rights, though. The distinction is very important, even if the effect is the same. Blocking a God given right puts THEM in the wrong, not the individual.

Well, you're free to disagree with me, but that is EXACTLY what the founders intended. I guess they should grow up too.
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? - Patrick Henry
...arms...discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. ...Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived the use of them. -- Thomas Paine
"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." --Thomas Jefferson
We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. - Patrick Henry
Man, those guys sure need to grow up!!
