Sounds like a great "parenting moment" was missed. If this family is that sensitive to bumper stickers and live in California, they could never leave their house without having major anxiety attacks. Southern California in particular is literally crammed with cars and their drivers hold very diverse political, social and religious beliefs. Seems like a quick - "that's just a joke by some idiot that doesn't know any better" would have diffused the situation quickly, reassured the kids and ended with a great day of putting holes in paper.

I am obviously a bad parent. If my rugrat had started yelling/screeching/etc. that we were going to die when she saw such a silly-sign, I probably would have reached in the backseat after unbuckling in order to give her a reassuring smack across the face.
BTW, I know when my kid(s) is being sarcastic as long as they are not online.

For what it's worth, the kid now admits her fear was pretty irrational, but it's easy to revert to those things in stress I think.
Although I do not agree with the sentiments of shooting democrats (i.e.: people of liberal tendencies)...

I always thought that people of liberal thought processes are firm believers in giving government more and more responsibilities outside the Constitutional boundaries setup to restrict those infringements, thus allowing little oversight, or accountability for screwups, mis-management of programs; intrusive, overpriced, ineffective policies both foreign and domestic...Cradle to grave, because it is a core belief through many examples of these tendencies that liberals believe government knows better than you or I how to live our lives...I could go on and on...No offence intended...

Now...Republicans (as a political party, like Democrats) have not had a stellar run either...I have a tremendous amount of differences of opinion with my party of affiliation as well...And I'll take those hits on the chin better than most would...

As far as the forum goes here, I know for a fact that there are Democrats out there, that I know, that have a fantastic record of voting and supporting Second Amendment issues, and I would stand right there beside them as a Republican...

But I am a Conservative first and foremost...And I would take a bullet for an American liberal anyday...That's my commitment to the country as a whole, I wonder if an American liberal would do the same for one of us???

Some may think I'm kidding about that...There will always be a moment of truth, yet spending the time to confirm ones political ideology will probably not come up on the radar at that particular time...

So the bottom line is this...The sticker is kinda funny, yet I just don't believe I would trust a person who would have the gall to put that on their vehicle...The pendulum swings both ways, and I would wonder if they made one that said "shoot a conservative" in the same format...

Does Irony "police" itself??? :thumbs2: :smilelol5:

You could make your own and sell it on a website like cafepress or zazzle. I like the terrorist hunting permit.

No wonder some folks get so hot when they hear liberal. Where does this poo come from? It sounds "Fair and Balanced"
The above definition is not my idea of how things need to run.

Maybe not but it's a good description of how the Democrat party acts in the US. One problem is most Democrats are not liberal even if they call themselves "Liberal" and it's also true that Bush and McCain and many other Republicans are not conservative.

Slapstick humor is one of my favorites and these signs fall into that category.

Tasteless: YES

Funny: In the eye of the beholder!

I love The Three Stooges, Curly being one of my early childhood heroes. Of his many talents, my favorite was his ability to run in a circle while laying on the floor, all the while enthusiastically uttering woo boo boo boo!

Talented?

Absolutely!

(I'd love to be able to do that particular break dance number - think of how impressed your loved ones would be, never mind yer friends)

Tasteless?

Absolutely!

My point?

Those who get upset at obvious, tasteless humor need to relax and quit being such old fuddy duds.

(I'm somewhat qualified to make this statement as I rather fall into the oldish category - but, I hope, not the "fuddy dud" class)

It pre-dates "fair and balanced" by at least 100 years as an active political force in the US. It has been known as the farcical "Utopia" for eons.

It's a very attractive formula for the laziest amongst us. I call it "striving for mediocrity".
Even though my own small successes have been just about mediocre.

If the government does it, it deprives you of your individual responsibility to help out the unfortunate.
