Cruz: GOP Senators Yelled at Me for Supporting Gun Filibuste

Texas senator Ted Cruz on Friday indicated that the battle among GOP Senators over gun control was so fierce that, at seveal points throughout the debate, some of his Republican colleagues yelled at him “at the top of their lungs.”
“I don’t know that there is an issue that has generated more heat internally in the Republican conference,” Cruz said at a Texas tea party rally. “We’ve had probably five or six lunches with a bunch of Republican senators standing up and looking at Rand [Paul] and Mike [Lee] and me and yelling at us at the top of their lungs, I mean, really upset. And they said ‘Look, why did you do this? As a result of what you did, when I go home, my constituents are yelling at me that I have to stand on principle.’ I’m really not making that up. I don’t ever bother to argue with me, I just let them yell and say, ‘Look, you know, vote your conscience.’”
Cruz who, along with senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee, launched an effort to filibuster any gun-control legislation brought to the Senate floor, called Republicans who did not back the effort “squishes.”
The trio were criticized by conservatives outside the halls of Congress as well; the Wall Street Journal ran two editorials attacking their efforts.
Though their motion was defeated, they consider themselves to have achieved an important strategic victory. “We are winning,” Cruz told the crowd.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

My man Ted. I'm so proud I voted for him.

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic-TN

Apparently you and I did not watch the same video (if in fact you actually watched prior to commenting), what I saw looked my more glotting over a job well done rather than crying that I had to do my job. Although I understand the opinions of most here are that ALL politicians are bad, there is the 1% that really do care about "We The People" that are willing to fight for what is right and truely represent us. So before you start bashing a good man at least take a look at the evidence placed before you, prior to bad mouthing someone who is truely in Washington to do a good job of representing us.Glock 23 wrote:Nothing like a politcian complaining about having to actually do his job.

I'm going to guess that Glock 23 was speaking of the folks who yelled at Senator Cruz, not about Senator Cruz himself. His message was short and did leave some room for interpretation, I will grant you that.RAM4171 wrote:Apparently you and I did not watch the same video (if in fact you actually watched prior to commenting), what I saw looked my more glotting over a job well done rather than crying that I had to do my job. By the way, I'm also very proud to have cast my ballot for Senator Cruz.

If that be the case then I hope Glock23 acepts my apology for being a little crass and defensive.K.Mooneyham wrote:I'm going to guess that Glock 23 was speaking of the folks who yelled at Senator Cruz, not about Senator Cruz himself. Well said, I usually do my best to keep my fuse quite long.

If that doesn't make you puke, you're part of the problem.JALLEN wrote:Texas senator Ted Cruz on Friday indicated that the battle among GOP Senators over gun control was so fierce that, at seveal points throughout the debate, some of his Republican colleagues yelled at him “at the top of their lungs.”

Senator Cruz is a rare breed of politician with principles, who is actually doing what he said he would do in his campaign speeches. I only wish we could clone him. He has my wholehearted support. He is one of the 2nd Amendment's best friends. In time, he might make a very good Presidential candidate.

I just hope that those principles dont get sucked up in the political retoric and scamming that goes on in the capital

Shame on Ted. Doesn't he realize that most of those guys are old and fat? He could cause them to have a heart attack! He needs to be more considerate of their feelings.
