Shooting Skeet with a Rifle

#1

Post by uthornsfan »

I was under the impression that shotguns were used in Skeet shooting.

Way to go Pres.

The gun pictured sure seems to be a shotgun to me. I am sure everyone would be surprised if the Times got that part wrong...

Chris Cox' comment in the article is absolutely correct. Skeet shooting does not make one a Second Amendment supporter.

Whatever it is, it appears to have a ported barrel that vents only to the right, and he's using black powder. "rlol"

Maybe he blew some of his doobie smoke down the barrel.....

He sure had a death grip goin' on. Almost like he was a'skeered of that skeeter!

Never seen a port job come out that far back or one side.
Trajectory indicates trap more than skeet. I'm sure they know the difference...

I have never seen an over/under ported like that. What is on the end of the upper barrel? For someone that shoots a lot where is his ammo? Picture leaves more questions than answers.

That's a choke. I do not have a double barrel, but some of the guys I shoot with will put a choke in one barrel and not the other or different chokes in each. I assume that is for one shot that is further away and the other is for closer shots. The chokes on mine do not stick out like that, but I've seen many that do stick out.

Browning Superposed or clone, o/u are ported on side of barrel for recoil reduction, has extended thin walled ported choke tubes, definitely a skeet gun. With coin finish receiver and porting it's value is tied to shooting, no collector value. :(

Looks funny to me. Oh wait, I see now he is shooting from the wrong side!

is the barrel ported only on one side, or did I miss something? The angle of the smoke sure looks to me like its escaping at about 45° from the right side only.

The whole thing looks somewhat photoshopped to me.

And the smoke...... it's either that nasty commie ammo, or he's blowing doobie smoke down the tube. I'd never get a follow up shot, or double, if my dove guns smoked like that. Maybe it's one of the new PC muzzle loader O/Us that use bulk black powder?

It's a good thing DiFi didn't see this or ported barrels would be on the banned list as a "scary" item along with the shoulder thing that goes up.

(and I realize that Carolyn McCarthy made the "thing that goes up" comment - but you get my drift)
