Apologies for incorrectly assuming this was your FB page and organization. This was your first post (or one of your first), right? I guess that's where I got the idea.

I stand by the rest of my comments. But have no ill will toward you and will take this up with the FB page directly.

I won't be attending until I get a satisfactory answer (and will post here what I find out). I don't like infighting anymore than anyone else, but I won't associate myself with any group that takes unprovoked pot shots at law enforcement.

I will admit that is a poorly written sentence on the website and can lead to an interperitation of LEO bashing. However, I know Eric (the organizer) and I know he did not mean any malice behind the statement. He actually was a sheriff Deputy in Arizona so I don't see him holding contempt for LEOs. He knows the majority of LEOs are pro gun. I can ask him for clarification of the website but I can assure you he meant no disrespect. Please don't let that from keeping you from attending.

Self-defense trainers teach avoidance and de-escalation. Lawful gun owners use force reluctantly and only in the gravest extreme when their lives are in immediate danger.
Responsible armed people function as the peacekeepers of the society. Unlike police, they will never give you a speeding ticket or ask for tax money to pay for their guns.
I just looked at your FB page. The cover photo has text embedded that I've typewritten word-for-word into the quote above.

I came into this thread late, and missed not only the OP link ot the FB page but also Purplehood pointing this out (with no response).
Purplehood wrote:I noticed this on the link provided by the OP:

I have no intent to provide anyone with 'protection'. I am interested in self-defense only.
I find the highlighted quote offensive and stupid.

Offensive - you're throwing LEOs under the bus
Stupid - you sound like you think you're a better "peacekeeper" than a trained LEO ... this is what SCARES the fence-sitters, that we're all just a bunch of vigilantes and cop wannabes (like George Zimmerman, remember him?)

Seriously, in all due respect, I'd like an explanation ... I'm seriously considering not attending based on this text, which reads like a "mission statement"
Well for starters, it's not my Facebook account. I don't even have one therefore its not my statements an no response from me needed. However, since tou posted this,I highly suggest that before you speak or type you look for my avatar or name anywhere on the fb page. You made an poor assumption.

Secondly, you're a big boy and can make up your own mind. I suggest you get on Facebook and ask the page owner.

And no disrespect intended.. I'll call bull on you. The minute you used the word "stupid" directed at me you lost the respect battle and my respect.
I don't care if it's your Facebook account or not, you posted a link to it and it has a blatant LEO bashing comment. What makes you think you can circumvent our rules by posting a link to a site that contains material that violates our rules?

Trying to promote Second Amendment rights by bashing COPS is flat out stupid and counterproductive.

Finally, I strongly suggest you refrain from launching into a diatribe against another Member. I'm disappointed that we haven't seen an apology from you.

Chas.

Gentlemen, With all due respect, may I suggest we cut Mr. Sailor a little slack. I realize this is a touchy subject however it seems to me he was just trying to pass on some info about the Rally. I have read the FB page statement and would have to agree that it is a poorly written, lame attempt to lift up CHLs. Meaning a CHL would take out a mass shooter without pay expectations. Not meant to Bash LEOs although I can see how it can be interpreted that way. An off duty Cop would do the same so yes,it is stupid. Again, reading this i don't think the FB link was meant to bash LEOs. Sailor said he would point out the offensive statement, now that it has been brought to his attention to the former LEO who wrote it.

Sailor, as you can see there is a bit of tension here due to recent events. Law enforcement is particularly touchy. Bash The TSA all you like.

Chas, get off your pompous butt. Me, apologize???!!! You are nuts and insulting.

You have no idea of my background with Leo in places you wouldn't drive much less walk.

I DEMAND AN APOLOGY FROM YOU.

AR was good enough to say he was sorry and miss understood. I completely accept and and move on. You however, are overreaching and overreacting in a very immature manner.

Would you rather of me not posted ANYTHING about the event??!!

I sincere hope you stay home. You are the type of person that is not needed and quite frankly, you disgust me as a moderator.

And I'll make this easy for you... I'm done with this forum. Been reading from this site since October and learned a few things despite my background, but since I'm now posting I've learned a valuable lesson from you.

I hope we do not ever meet

Goodbye.

Ps. Thank you handog but "Charles" has crossed the line with me. What he wrote was truly uncalled for and I do not tolerate disrespect. I give it and expect it.

Well I was considering going, but if pirate is representative of the sort you might encounter at such an event, I think I'll stick to donating to the NRA-ILA, writing letters and calling congress critters. :???:

Pirate, Charles has done more for the 2nd amendment in Texas than you, I or 10 other members of this forum combined have.

If you can't debate in a calm, rational manner with folks like Charles or AR who are on your side, how the heck do you expect to convince irrational anti gunners that they're on the wrong side of the issue? Some food for thought.

I don't believe Pirate was a representative of the FB page, therefore most likely not a representative of who will be at the rally. I was planning to go, but now I am second guessing my plans, but I am trying to not take the posting on this thread as indicative of how the rally will be conducted.

So, to go or not to go? Not sure at this time; it is difficult to separate the person posting here from the event itself.

My post was mainly tongue in cheek. There may be some hotheads there who make us look bad.. but that's why a lot of us should show up looking professional, polite and determined to protect our rights and outnumber them.

I'm going to go. Anywhere the Texas CHL forum people are going to meet up before hand? (only read the last few pages, apologizes if I missed a rally point earlier).

After this guys account gets zapped in about 2.2 seconds can we focus on the fact that he has now succeeded on either intentionally or non intentionally creating division amongst a group of pro gun folks who planned to show up at a pro gun Rally.

In much the same way we let the NRA off the hook on some issues, because they are the best vehicle to protect our rights I think this "demonstration/movement" should be cut a little slack as well. It may not be perfect, but it is the best we have right now.

I hope all those on the fence will reconsider showing up.

Wow ok I think this whole thing is being blown out of proportion. I talked to the organizer today about the quote in question. He absolutely agrees that the wording was very poor and his intent was not to bash LEOs. Again he is a former sheriffs deputy so he is not anti LEO. In fact he lined up Sheriff Mack as a speaker. He told me he wanted to delete that portion of the web page and re-write. I don't know when as he was headed to work when I talked with him.

I hope we can stay united as gun owners and not fight eachother.
