*Edited to add: This poll is on ABC...not exactly the bastion of conservative and libertarian thinking. I imagine that a Fox News poll would have a markedly wider gap with NO in a healthy lead. Also, one poll does not equal a new AWB or any other gun control law...those have to go through Congress, to include the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, first...I'm sure some would/will cave but I'm betting it won't be enough.

Unfortunately, the poll isn't loading for me, so I can't vote.

So far this is what we have:

Code: Select all

    NO ∆ YES ∆ No ∆ / Yes ∆
   16151 12636
   16159 8 12646 10 0.8
   16166 7 12649 3 2.3
   16179 13 12662 13 1.0
   16193 14 12672 10 1.4
   16213 20 12699 27 0.7
   16216 3 12701 2 1.5
   16228 12 12708 7 1.7
   16255 27 12734 26 1.0
   16269 14 12745 11 1.3
   16273 4 12750 5 0.8
   16297 24 12775 25 1.0
   16355 58 12798 23 2.5
   16359 4 12798 0 -
   16369 10 12811 13 0.8
   16392 23 12832 21 1.1
"∆" is "delta" which means change.
The "No ∆ / Yes ∆" means how much the No vote has changed compared to the Yes vote. Numbers above 1 are good for us.

The total change so far:
+ 241 NO
+ 196 YES

I've been tracking it with a spreadsheet. Here's what I've got so far:

Code: Select all

	No Yes Total ∆ ∆ as %
16,095	12,563	28,658	3,532 12.3246562914369%

16,159	12,646	28,805	3,513 12.1957993403923%
16,166	12,649	28,815	3,517 12.2054485511019%
16,179	12,662	28,841	3,517 12.1944454075795%
16,193	12,672	28,865	3,521 12.1981638662740%
16,213	12,699	28,912	3,514 12.1541228555617%
16,216	12,701	28,917	3,515 12.1554794757409%
16,228	12,708	28,936	3,520 12.1647774398673%
16,255	12,734	28,989	3,521 12.1459864086378%
16,269	12,745	29,014	3,524 12.1458606190115%
16,273	12,750	29,023	3,523 12.1386486579609%
16,297	12,775	29,072	3,522 12.1147495872317%
16,355	12,798	29,153	3,557 12.2011456796899%
16,359	12,800	29,159	3,559 12.2054940155698%
16,478	12,922	29,400	3,556 12.0952380952381%
16,489	12,933	29,422	3,556 12.0861940044864%
Like I said, the difference as a percentage of the total is decreasing. That is not good. I'll check it periodically.

And by the way, here is some of the dreck that is being posted. WARNING: these people are unhinged, and some of them use not so nice language.

Hatred directed against the NRA

Hatred directed against conservatives

Asbergers produces enlightenment, but never violence

Obviously, the kosling nation are unhinged and out of touch, but they're not the only ones. This is what we are up against.

I voted NO at 6:15 pm cst 12/16/2012 NO=16,918 YES=13,429
I'm a Democrat and most of you folks wouldn't be happy with my voting record. But I'm with most of you on the 2nd Amendment. I would suspect that most of the folks who run across that poll on ABC website are a lot like me. I'd suspect that most conservative folks would more likely browse FOX.
I'm suggesting that even with a liberal bias to the voter set, you still get a marginal lean FOR the the 2nd Amendment. This board is FAR better than most of the others I belong too. (Guns and bikes, all pretty conservative.) On a lot of issues, if those folks would stop call (them/me) names and extend a hand, they'd probably be surprised at how many times and on how many issues (they/I'd) be in their camp. I'm only slightly left of center and vote for the Pachyderm on many issues. I'm just as disgusted with those guys on the far looney left as I am those on the far wacky right.
I don't mean to drift off topic, but I think we have a lot more support, slightly left of center, than most on the right realize. And I think this poll might reflect that.
