if potus has all these great ways to get folks back to work and makes us strong for the future, WHY ISN'T HE DOING IT NOW???
he controls the senate and we all know his man ried is man servant

Not a Democrat, but I'll weigh in from an unbiased perspective. (Libertarian)

I'm not impressed with tonight's speech. His 2004/2008 speeches were far superior. Frankly, Julian Castro and Bill Clinton gave infinitely better speeches!
It is hard to maintain increasingly better-received speeches when you've already won the Nobel Peace Prize (basically upon speech), and have the numbers and economy against you. I don't hold it against him, but you won't find me supporting this man...ever...

Castro - Way too happy. No beef in the speech. Great enthusiasm.

Biden - The transparently fake "sincerity" made me ill. However, I'll wager he was effective motivating the base.

Obama - Double down on government spending / programs. Not a single believable private sector job anywhere in that speech.

Clinton - Best speech, facts notwithstanding.

agreed Clinton is a great public speaker, not as good as Mrs. Rice, but still effective.
I was so hoping he would have dropped the bomb on potus.....



i just find it funny they always (both parties) have great ideas for the next term....but never seems to do it while they are in office.

add a 1% tax for 3 years on alcohol and ciggs, to further help the tax on fuels now, that would go directly to highway repairs, and LPG stations for filling cars, and then put in place a flat tax of 9% and drop a ton of loopholes sans charity to the less fortunate
do give tax credits for LPG powered cars and trucks for 3 years, modest 6%
yes i drink beer, and quite a bit, but not to much
stop ethanol from CORN subsidies, encourage ethanol from beets or sugar cane. personally ethanol should go away altogher
mandate all cooking oil be recycled into bio fuel
further expand wind and hydrothermal energy, solar needs more work to be really cost effective
if you receive public assistance....we need to get you to work if possible.

This "Cash Cow" is dying.........that's why they keep increasing the tax. To make up for the loss when people are quitting.

and oh yes before i forget...he said he wanted student loans to have lower interest rates and no increases of rates....HOWEVER he failed to mention one of the reason rates are set to go up is to help offset the "obamacare" ....I guess everyone in america needs to grab a copy and read it

Lowering student loan rates is not the answer. The answer is to make them pay the loans back. Automatically deducting the monthly payments (and back payments) from any government check would be a good start.

"Automatically deducting the monthly payments" for student loan payments is in place now. Likewise deductions are made from tax refunds, SS checks, etc. And most Federally insured student loans have provisions against being settled by Bankruptcy courts as well.

An interesting open letter from Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" fame, to Mitt Romney: http://www.mikeroweworks.com/2012/09/th ... e-hardest/. Sounds like he might be willing to endorse Romney because he (Rowe) believes that it is a huge mistake to try and prep all students for a university education, and that in the process of this shift in our educational system, national educational policy has lost sight of teaching kids critical work skills so that the vast majority who are NOT going to succeed in college will have the skills to earn a good living....not just service industry "you want fries with that" kinds of jobs.
