I could've sworn those guys built that...

The incidences of "Obama said/did what?!?" are increasing so rapidly, I'm having trouble keeping up...

Anyway, now he's claiming that success in business is due to the government, and not actually working, having a strong work ethic, or selling a better mousetrap.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

He doesnt represent my values, ethics, or interests; not my president.

People who succeed in their own business don't do so because of help from the government -- they do so IN SPITE of "help" from the government. :banghead:

Obama is completely right, without the govt people would never build successful businesses.

I mean, just look at how successful the post office is.

And Soylendra is a booming corporation thanks to govt help!

Oh....um, never mind. :leaving

What he SHOULD have said is that "HE never did or built anything on his own without the government paying for it"! HOW can anyone who has never even had a job in the real world...never risked a dollar of his own money...nothing but government funded academic grants, government funded "community activist" salaried positions, and political appointments and positions, have the gall to lecture and pontificate to those who have. Most small business owners started out with a long struggle...risked all their own money and worked 60+ hour weeks at their businesses, plus hours more at home at night and on weekends trying to keep up with all the paperwork and government required forms, payroll taxes, employee insurance forms, and so on, with absolutely no government assistance and no guarantee of success. The fact is most small businesses don't succeed and the ones that survive and prosper do so because of the time and effort and abilities of the owners...IN SPITE of the government's attempts to tax and regulate them to death.

In one of his books (fiction) he wrote about a job he had as a youth in some fast food business.
He referred to it as "working behind enemy lines".
That should tell you how he feels about business owners.

The resources the government has to do anything are those it takes from us in taxes. So even when it does something like build roads, it really is your and my taxes doing that.

Yep... and it's pretty easy to see that, too.

When my money is taken involuntarily and used for purposes I do not approve of, I don't want any part of whatever "credit" is taken.

In other news, this statement has spawned a hilarious internet meme. I hope it catches on.
