If you can find a source for that other than world net daily, I'd be interested.

Because it frankly sounds like a total fabrication.
Still interested in a source for this or if its just made up Paulistinian delusion.

It's nto a sworn affidavit but Google found this pretty quick.
“The question of Rand’s future hangs over the 2012 race in a real way,” said John McCain’s 2008 campaign manager, Steve Schmidt.“If [Ron Paul] were to leave the GOP it would have a crushing effect on his son’s political career in the Republican Party and would be ruinous to any chance of a serious national campaign under the Republican banner.”

Not sure how "mafia" like that is.

If I ran a company that had a father and son, and the father was talking about leaving after 30 years and taking a lot of my clients (a poor analogy I know, bear with me) I certainly wouldn't be guaranteeing that his son has a bright future with my company in the years to come.

Not rewarding disloyal behavior is a simple fact of sound business or party politics.

Mafia like to me alludes to GOP leaders threatening harm to his family.

I understand what you're saying....but do you honestly see Ron Paul going 3rd party and Rand not supporting his father in his presidential bid?

Its a no win for Rand. Support your dad, earn the ire of the party. Shun your dad for future prospects, look like a scummy son.

I believe he would back his fathers run, and it would rightly sink his future Republican prospects.

Just my .02 on it.

The problem with the economy today is that we're not creating jobs to replace those that have been removed from the US economy. When I worked at HP, we worried when our sales revenue was not at least 50% derived from businesses and products created within the last 5 years. Out with the old, in with the new. It takes hutzpa to create new products that compete with your own products, but it's necessary to remaining successful. Energy is a HUGE opportunity for well-paying job creation, so is healthcare. Government intervention/regulation is the problem. Want to build a pipeline (with not a dime of government money) that will employ ten thousand plus direct workers and support tens of thousands more in supporting roles? Sorry, you might disturb a few acres of Nebraska wetlands (or whatever). Want to build a solar plant? Sorry, your choice of locations affects a previously-unknown turtle habitat...... Want to sell your low-cost healthcare solution across state lines and grow your company while taking waste out of the industry? Sorry, you're not allowed.

You want to know why jobs are not growing? This is why.

But hey, I remember Houston in the 80's. I couldn't breathe there. To heck with those gub'mint meddlers gettin betwitxt a man and a dollar. Those people who can't breathe should just move, eh?

And to heck with those mamby-pamby building codes. If the building falls down killing everyone, the business will fail, right? That's the market correcting itself, surely. Darn meddlers.

FDA? Bah, who cares about some pig blood in the river. Plenty of fish elsewhere. If a drug kills someone, that person won't be able to buy more- market self-correction!

There's a substantial difference between "reasonable" regulation and "stifling" regulation.
How would lifting the ban on selling health insurance across state lines be a problem, assuming reasonable, non-stifling regulation of the activity? Why dismiss out of hand the XL pipeline when 1. Not all routing and mitigation options have been explored, 2. The environmental impact from trucking or rail shipment of these oil sands is likely to be greater than the environmental impact of the pipeline? 3. Cleaning up a spill can be managed, putting people back to work and taking a good step towards reducing foreign (yes, Canada is still foreign, but you know what I mean) oil should weigh heavily against environmental issues that can be managed.

Your arguments are the equivalent of saying "If you don't want stifling regulation you must be in favor of anarchy". Silly. :tiphat:

Yep, I forsee another 4 years of Obama. We have people mad at Ron Paul for running as a Republican but it's perfectly acceptable for RINO's such as Gingrich or Romney to do so. We have Romney who supported and signed an AWB and modeled what is now Obamacare. Then we have Gingrich who supports an individual mandate, supports amnesty for illegals, attacks capitalism, and now is going to balance the budget and fix our debt crisis while at the same time promising to colonize the moon. And they say Ron Paul is nuts! "rlol"

I totally agree it is Obama for 4 more years unless a miracle happens. the Reps are too busy
destroying themselves while Obama is destroying the country.

I cannot agree with the Obama+4 theory yet. I think there is just to much disdain for the man. He cannot hide from his horrible spending record for no return. I hear from so many different people from different walks and the overwhelming echo is 'get him out'. The biggest weapon against that is this continued chin slumping and letting our lower lips drag the ground idea that he is a shoe in. If you and we don't vote, it will happen. If we get off our lazy bums, he walks back to Chicago. If you want the man out that has to be your message to friends and family. Get to the polls in November.

Of course I will vote and I will escort my wife there too!! the problem as I see it is that
the electorate in this country is basically stupid!! They will fall for Obama's giveaway rhetoric.
Much better to receive than to go to work. they will go to the polls in droves to continue
receiving what Obama has promised them.

Then there is the present generation of voters, part of the Gimmee Generation. You heard of the Greatest Generation,
well they were replaced by the Vietnam Generation and finally we have the Gimmee Generation. Obama is preaching to them
and they will go to the polls and vote him in again. My only hope is that the Gimmee Generation will be too lazy to vote twice
in 4 years. Hopefully they will stay home.

Obama is demonizing Wall Street again and even harder now. Why? He has found that this class Warfare of his is resonating
with the Gimmee Generation. They are now occupying Wall Street, NYC and many other places because it is much easier to occupy
those places that it is to work there. After all many are receiving their never ending unemployment checks.

Obama has put into place too many freebees for these people to ignore.

Problem is that if he is voted in for another 4 both time and money will finally run out and it will once again be Bush's fault!!

Don't make this a generational thing.

There are producers and moochers. Age doesn't matter.

Plenty of senior citizens who will fall all over themselves to vote for Obama if he tells them the Republicans want to take away their social security and medicare.

There are also a lot of people in the younger generation who have done their time in Afghanistan or Iraq, or work very hard to NOT depend on anyone. I have friends that have died over there. Yes, the WW2 generation made some truly humbling sacrifices. But don't discount what the under 30 crowd has done since the War on Terror began.

Laying the "gimme" mentality at the feet of us youngsters is just flat out wrong and frankly, insulting.

The entitlement society was first established by FDR. Then our parents generation voted in LBJ who declared war on poverty and created even more entitlements. So don't act like ours is the first generation to have lousy parasites. Far from it.

I guess you are right!! I am wrong!! I am not part of the WWII generation and Soc Sec and Medicare are not entitlements even though that
is how they are spoken of today.

If any seniors fall for that take away SS or Medicare than they should not be voting.

Bt you have to admit that the US has been going more and more left with each passing year. It will not take much
more before the US will be a Socialist Society. Who is driving that veer to the far left? It is not the older generation
in fact, our generation does not have as much effect on our government as the younger ones.

Hopefully there is enough of you guys left to keep this govt/country from going into a total free fall.

Having lived through 13 Presidents, and voted in many Presidential elections, there's one "absolute" I've learned.

Liberals don't budge
Conservatives don't budge
Democrats "may" budge
Republicans" may" budge
Independents always budge.

Elections are not decided by ideological or party bases. They are decided by Independents. Without the Independent vote, you can't win. Whoever appeals the most in this election, or any election, to the Independents will win, plain and simple.

:iagree: :tiphat: I am always amazed at today's generation who has so selflessly completed voluntarily tour after tour in Afghanistan and/or Iraq. My hat is truly off to them.
