I think the bill was written up an introduced too late in the game.

Re: Dead for this session?
If we are ever going to get Constitutional Carry we are going to have to join the TSRA and let them know that is what we want. We are also going to have to educate our friends and family that our goal is to restore law-abiding peoples rights to carry a gun, open or concealed, in this state with NO government regulation. We also have to convince trainers to push training about Texas gun laws. Most of what they would teach is part of the CHL instruction so the volunteer training could be part of a CHL class at a reduced cost. Instructors and/or ranges can offer a basic pistol/retention training as part of the cost. If CHL instructors understand Constitutional Carry can be a money making move for them they will be more willing to consider it. We have to have support from the CHL community, gun owners, hunters and those who are not hostile to our rights in order to get this passed. That means WE have to educate them and ease their irrational fears of freedom for the people. Those fears proved irrational over CHL and they will with Constitutional Carry.

CHL trainers are crony capitalists in regard to being protected and insured to have business as long as a customer base is mandated by statute.
Responsible people will seek education. Irresponsible people will still teach the kids while cleaning guns on the coffee table after 3 or 4 beers.
After holding a license in Indiana for 10 years and learning to open carry and knowing with confidence that state law is behind you is sobering. Teaching ISP and other leos in the area that some regular guys know the law and also know that non-leos have rarely if ever been attacked because of a visible firearm.
Make this a non issue and take the gun off the table.

Wow, 13 posts and you're labeling all CHL instructors with a broad brush?txgho1911 wrote:CHL trainers are crony capitalists in regard to being protected and insured to have business as long as a customer base is mandated by statute.

It's the internet, get used to it ^
As for CHL instructors, mine did his best to cover everything by saying, "I want to make sure that I tell you not to do every stupid thing, as one of my students inevitable will."
There are a bunch of idiots out there. Very few will get CHLs. Some of those few will make headlines.
Such is life, move on.

So you obviously believe in the scorched earth theory, additudes such as yours is exactly why many people are against open carry, it is not the concept, it is the ignorance that is contained in many of the OC peoples posts.... If you want support I suggest you take a different approach and stop attacking those who you will need support from.....
