I wonder what the average Texas university crime rate is compared to Colorado or Utah where they can legally carry?

Re: SB 354 Campus Carry Placed on Intent Calender for Tomorr
There are 14 Senators who co-authored the bill - Wentworth (512) 463-0125, Birdwell (512) 463-0122, Carona (512) 463-0116, Deuell (512) 463-0102, Eltife (512) 463-0101, Estes (512) 463-0130, Fraser (512) 463-0124, Harris (512) 463-0109, Hegar (512) 463-0118, Jackson (512) 463-0111, Nelson (512) 463-0112, Patrick (512) 463-0107, Seliger (512) 463-0131 and Williams (512) 463-0104. Please call each of these Senators and ask them to vote to suspend the rules and to encourage their colleagues to vote as well. We need to make sure that each of the co-authors votes so there's no chance of someone think that even the authors are wavering.

Re: SB 354 Campus Carry Placed on Intent Calender for Tomorr
Being on the intent calendar just means it's eligible to be brought to the floor, so don't bet worried if it's not up tomorrow. Senator Wentworth won't make the attempt until/unless he has 21 Senators committed to vote to suspend the rules.
Keep making the calls. If it gets to the floor, it will pass the Senate.

If I understand correctly, it can't hit the floor the first day it's on Intent calendar anyway, so Thurs would be the soonest it could possibly hit the floor.
Soo tomorrow is the day to call, fax, e-mail Senators, and maybe peep in on House Calendar committeeThe list, called the Intent Calendar, must be made available to each senator and to the press not later than 6:30 p.m. on the day the notice is filed. No bill or resolution may be considered on its first day on the Intent Calendar, and a vote of two-thirds of the senators present is required before any of the measures listed on the Intent Calendar may be debated.

I called my state senator and asked for
1. a vote to suspend the rules and bring SB 354 for consideration, and
2. a vote for SB 354 on the floor.
I also called Senator 'Chuy' Hinojosa's office and politely asked for the senator to vote to suspend the rules to bring SB 354 up for consideration in the senate, even if he ends up voting against the bill because it doesn't have opt out for the district 20 schools. The nice lady says he's in favor of debating it in the senate so I think that's a good sign.

House calendar committee is the last bug obstacle for HB750 (the companion to SB354). If HB750 gets scheduled for a floor vote it will pass, but it only takes a couple of reps to hang up a bill long enough in the calendar committee long enough to kill it.Tamie wrote:Why? The problem is getting it to the floor, not passing it once it gets there.¿Qué? wrote:I hope you're right but today's circus shakes my confidence.Charles L. Cotton wrote:If it gets to the floor, it will pass the Senate.

Re: SB 354 Campus Carry Placed on Intent Calender for Tomorr
It takes a 2/3rds majority (21) to suspend the rules to bring a bill up for a vote out of order, but it only takes a simple majority (16) to pass a bill once it gets to the Senate floor.¿Qué? wrote:I hope you're right but today's circus shakes my confidence.Charles L.
