See viewtopic.php?f=94&t=41680" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if you want any say in the matter.
I included a link to the Whitehouse e-mail so you can contact BEFORE the next speech
But in the next two weeks, the White House will unveil a new gun-control effort in which it will urge Congress to strengthen current laws,

Couldn't get it through the last Congress, and will never get it through this Congress. Obama knows this, and my bet is this is just a political ploy so he can say to his supporters after the next shooting "I tried to stop it, but the evil Republicans stopped it."

That said, I'm still contacting my representatives and sending some money to the NRA-ILA.

I recall a "Green" when I lived in Houston about 30 years ago saying he was always going to be pro-2A in a response he mailed me, but now a "Green" is one sponsor to limit magazines to a "reduced crippled capacity" ... not sure if it's the same "Green" or not, but he's Houston too.

The simple fact is that we cannot trust Republicans to refrain from selling us out if they see a political advantage in that act. And, rest assured, the media will do everything possible to convince the Republicans that a majority of Americans really do want that kind of law. We must follow this issue closely and be ready to flood the offices of US Representatives and Senators with polite, respectful, well-written letters making it very clear that voting for any laws that infringe our gun rights will result in loss of our votes, our contributions, and any other form of support for them in 2012. We must also make it clear that selling us out will cause us to take an active roll in helping opposing candidates, beginning with the primary elections.

Did you ever consider Obama's speech may be the springboard to weasel us into the long awaited UN Treaty on Small arms (Draft treaty is due out in 2012). I am just sayin'

The article refers to the Brady Campaign as, "the nation’s largest gun-safety group." What a crock, more like the nations largest gun-grabber group! :mad5

At least this WashPost story calls Bloomberg's group what it is:
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who runs a gun-control group,

I like this quote from Wayne LaPierre
In an e-mail to members Tuesday night, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said, "Once again, you and your freedoms are being blamed for the acts of a deranged madman, who sent signal after signal that he was dangerous
but THIS ONE worries me ...
the NRA (is) "going to have a tough time fighting all the legislative fights this vitriol has spawned."

Well, I can handle 1 throwing machine in a batting cage, it's tough with 10 machines

There's a LOT of red herrings and bad so-called logic "common sense" being tossed all at once.

And lots of thirsty people drinking the koolaid

Like the AT&T commercial says "It makes sense, if you don't think about it"

It seems to me that the only thing the Feds could possibly
do that would not outrage the 2A loving community would be to
somehow improve the red-flagging of mental defectives like the
Tucson shooter.

Anything more would have the NRA filling Federal officials' offices
with so much mail they'd have to wade to their copiers. :-)
