Kudos to President Obama

I'm not asking for support of the president. I really don't care who anyone voted for or supports.

I'm just saying that it would be nice to have actual second amendment political discussions based upon facts, not just the same old "he is coming to get us, you count on it" nonsense.

From what I can actually tell, there are no pending bills or laws to limit our 2A rights. I don't care what someone said on the campaign trail (I doubt any politician would be able to withstand that kind of review!) to ditto-heads to sound good during a speach. What has he actually done? The only thing he has done 2A related is to sign into law ALLOWING us to carry in national parks. If he was really intent on banning hand guns (which he could never do), why sign that bill. He is a democrat and they dont have the best history on gun rights (to put it mildly!), so we have to be aware, but I think we can do it with resorting to rumors.

There is one that just passed: Healthcare... http://gunowners.org/a100909.htm The CDC (Center for Disease Control) is attempting to start studies for gun statistics again and it is presumed this may be a back door to control gun ownership. http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysi ... ?id=509943 http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/6971 Admittedly this is currently opinion and not fact, but something to be wary of. It won't take away the right, but it might make it very expensive to practice it. One of the items that may have been one of those 200 supposed Republican amendments may have been one to restrict them from using gun statistics. I don't recall if it got in or not and didn't search for a link.

Tell me about it. I thought I was conservative and it was in the Libertarian area toward the conservative side. Unexpected. Maybe I should post it in the Political thread so that it doesn't hijack this one.

It appears I am a hardcore libertarian. Yet, I struggle with the wasted vote. I know that seriously annoys the ron paul folks, but I'll
usually take an average republican over a good democrat. I don't want to vote for the guy who garners a 6% finish.

I fell deep into the libertarian range! I just thought I was a republican who was sick and tired of the "moral majority" destroying our party with their attempts to legislate moral values.

The real reason Odumbell got elected is that Odumbell was framed as the young hip rap star and McCain was framed as needing pampers. It was cool to vote Obama at the time. Most of the folks who voted for Odumbell don't have a clue about what is going on in the world and have gone back to not having a clue.

Oprah Winfrey played a big roll in getting Obama elected. There were many couch potato/Oprah followers who knew nothing about Obama yet still voted for him.

Every single time I asked someone who was celebrating that "their" candidate (Obama) had been elected why they voted for him I never got an actual reply besides hope, change, "he's going to fix everything" and that I'm a racist.

He got elected for more reasons that a TV talk show supported him, racism and "people who voted for him are dumb". To say those are the only reasons are disingenuous and ignores the state of things at the end of the Bush era.

In the election, McCain was by FAR the superior candidate. He just had the bad misfortune of running after 8 disasterous years of Bush, and he picked a horrible VP candidate. After 8 years of one party in charge, people wanting change are likely to pick the alternate party to give them a shot. Obama will have 4 years to prove he deserves to be re-elected, if not, the Republicans will be wise to pick a good candidate.

Who said those were the only reasons he got elected? I do agree that there was enough hate for Bush in the air that the candidate least like him had an advantage. I predict in three years he will still be blaming Bush and will be a one term president.

I thought the CDC had finally grudgingly admitted that bans dont work and have no effect. I know the FBI said so recently.
