San Antonio Express-News did an article on 30 Jan 09 on pending gun-related bills in the Legislature. Sidebar to the article listed the bills mentioned in the subject line. According to the Express-News:
HB267 will bring Texas into alignment with a 1986 amendment to the gun control act to allow Texans to purchase long guns in 45 non-contiguous states.
HB140 allows a concealed-carry license to remain valid to present to LEO if the holder has submitted an application for renewal before the expiration date and has not received notice that the application for renewal was denied.
HB410 is pretty well covered in a separate thread.
HJR20 proposes adding a right to hunt and fish to the Texas Bill of Rights.
SB330 raises the punishment from Class A Misdemeanor to a state jail felony for the unlawful carry of weapons--handgun, illegal knife, club--for those previously convicted of organized crime.
If the Express-News has described these bills accurately, it looks like they're worthy of our support. Would like to see some comments on these bills from those of you who are more familiar with them.

Charles has a sticky posted in the 2009 Texas Legislative Issues section here http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... 64&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that is updated and has some issues listed. The there is also a thread going here http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... 79&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that talks about the news articles.

I think it makes make more sense to increase the penalty in 46.04 for felon in possession.Nicolai wrote:SB330 raises the punishment from Class A Misdemeanor to a state jail felony for the unlawful carry of weapons--handgun, illegal knife, club--for those previously convicted of organized crime.
