Tan Parker's office just got a call from another constituent. The person on the phone was aware of the status of HB1893 and immediately stated that Tan was a co-sponsor of 1893 and implied he would support Amendment #42.

I just called Rep. Randy Weber's office and the aide stated he thought he know which amendment that I supported and that he would pass message along to the Rep.

I also thanked him for being a co-author of HB1893. This was the most positive call I have made this session.

There are several CHL related amendments in there....cool. Assuming the author has to approve them, I'm happy that my rep is Mrs. Kolkhorst.

One question. Can these amendments be stripped in the Senate?

Yeah, that one took a whole lot of time.

I haven't heard an amendment by driver being voted on, but the one they are discussing right now is #35, and there have been a couple of CHL/Second Amendment rights amendments added in the past few minutes.

I wish we had access to the text of these amendments.

The Senate can strip amendments, and then I believe the House has to agree.

Go to http://www.house.state.tx.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; then search by bill number HB2730 then click on Amendments.

Sorry no direct link. Posting from a Blackberry.

Does anyone know what amendment numbers were 2A-related?

The amendments adopted so far deal with:
  • CHL Instructors can alternate renewing their certifications online, then in person in Austin
Removes delinquent taxes and school loans as disqualifying for a CHL
Adopts SB1424 provisions removing any conviction that has been set aside in any manner as a disqualifier for a CHL
Adopts HB410 provision repealing the requirement for a CHL to display his/her CHL when asked for identification
At this point, it's going very well.

Called Rep Callegari...His staff was unaware of the amendment by Driver. They said that Callegari would be contacted immediately.
