Re: Utah wait times?
When Utah was really, really backed up and having problems issuing licenses in a timely manner, they posted the approximate wait time on the Utah DPS website: http://bci.utah.gov/index.html
Now it just says "We are processing applications within 60 days as required by law."
The website is still a good place to go to get the most timely answers to your Utah questions. They update it frequently.

I mailed my stuff in on feb 18, 2008, and as of mar. 7... it has not been processed into the system, or my credit card charged... I have called and they say that this is normal with the way that their mail system is setup... Utah....
***UPDATE: my app was recieved and credit card charged 3.15. so it spent a month in the mail room...

Re: Utah wait times?
I called Utah BCI on Apr 4 regarding the status of mine.
I was told that my application was received Feb 21 and they were currently processing applications received on Feb 9. I was told it could take up to 30 more days for them to get to mine.

Re: Utah wait times?
Has anyone received a Utah license recently, and how long was the turnaround?
Re: Utah wait times?
Took my class mid-November. Got my license end of December, about a forty day wait. This included sending in a copy of my Tx CHL, however. Its longer if you don't have Tx.

Re: Utah wait times?
So, that's 6 1/2 weeks. That's doable. Based on that, I should get mine the first week in June.

I mailed my Utah packet (from Dallas) on February 21st. The card came this past Friday, May 2nd.

Re: Utah wait times?
Our Utah permits took about 5 months (mailbox to mailbox)...But that was during the last big rush about year ago...
It looks like they are getting back up to speed these days...And I'm glad they are...Utah's are becoming the permit of choice for those of us wanting a few more states to carry in for reciprical purposes...Plus you can carry on the Utah permit (in Texas) if you lose the Texas CHL...Due to non legal issues...While you are getting the replacement Texas CHL...
Thats why we keep our Utah's in the safe, unless we are traveling...

Re: Utah wait times?
I'm around 60 days right now. I did send an email on May 3, and got a reply on May 5th:
"We are working under 60 days right now and we are working on March 17th. It should be about 2-3 weeks until we get to your application. If you have any questions let us know."
Application was received on 3/20/08, and I was charged on 3/31/08.
I'm impatiently waiting!

Did they ask you to send a copy of the Texas CHL? Is this normal?tomc wrote:Took my class mid-November. Got my license end of December, about a forty day wait. This included sending in a copy of my Tx CHL, however. Its longer if you don't have Tx.

Re: Utah wait times?
Utah's process is, they send your fingerprints to FBI and wait for the results of the background check before they begin working on your application. Once you pass that, then they start processing.
If you send in a copy of another state's valid CHL (that also performs an FBI background check) with your application, then they will start processing your application immediately. They still won't issue the license until their own background check comes back, but it can save you a couple of weeks wait time.
