I was wondering if the 30.06 sign is a Texas only law or if it applys to all states and if it dosent apply to all states can business owners just put up a 2 dollar sign from homedpot in there window and it becomes law that you cant carry there. I am in N.C. for a few months and I cant find anyhting that adresses putting up your own sign to help me.
I also noticed that there laws say you cant carry anywhere that sells and consumes alcohal does that mean that if they only sell it (like at a walmart) that you cant carry it there or does that mean that they have to consume alcohal on the premisses to no be able to carry.
Any help on this would be great.

Re: NC laws
30.06 is Texas only. Each state has different requirements on signage for restricting carry. N.C. is very confusing as it just requires a 'conspicuously displayed' sign of any kind. Here is your best bet for info http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/northcarolina.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Watch N.C. though, they have strange laws on where you can't carry. Restaurants that serve alcohol are off limits period (that means Chili's, Fridays, etc.) Also, you can't carry anywhere they charge admission to enter where these is an 'assemblage of people', so movie theaters, museums, the circus, etc are off limits. You also can't carry at any public assemblage of people, like parades, funerals, etc. LOTS of restrictions.
Read the info CAREFULLY for where you can and can't carry out there.

Re: NC laws
I've always wondered what good it is to have a Concealed Carry law if you can't carry anywhere.

Re: NC laws
I've wondered that too. North Carolina seems to be one of the worst about that. It's a shall-issue state and its permit has excellent reciprocity (one of the few that is better than Texas) but severely restricts where you can carry. Texas is pretty good about where we can carry, although there is room for improvement--we aren't as good as Utah, New Hampshire, or Oregon yet.bdickens wrote:I've always wondered what good it is to have a Concealed Carry law if you can't carry anywhere.
Lots of southern states seem to have hangups about allowing carry in restaurants, although the situation is improving--Georgia started allowing it last year, and Tennessee this year (and no drunken CHL holders mowing down people in bars, despite the anti's dire predictions). The only southern states now not allowing it are the Carolinas and Virginia. Virginia should change that next year, too--a bill has been passed the last two years but was vetoed, but Virginia just elected their extremely pro-gun attorney general to be the next governor.
Re: NC laws
You also can't carry concealed in a bank in NC (but open carry is legal).
Re: NC laws
Oh, and in NC it's illegal to conceal any firearm, not just handguns, without a license. Having a long gun in the passenger compartment is a no-no there.
