Having my CHL does anyone know what it will cost me to get a CC in AR? How much time do I have to switch over?
Thanks,
Jim

If they accept UT, FL, or NH non-resident, that might be an option.
I don't see any exemptions in there, but I think that of you can show you've been married to a sibling or first cousin for at least a year, or have less than three teeth, it counts toward Arkansas residency.(b) The director shall issue a license if the applicant:
(1) Is a resident of the state and has been a resident
continuously for twelve (12) months or longer immediately preceding the filing
of the application (provided this shall not apply to any retired city, county,
state or federal law enforcement officer);
If they accept UT, FL, or NH non-resident, that might be an option.

i went to the UofArk, and had my Texas CHL, the classes are harder to find, and less "discussion" of the CCW, but never a problem for me.
what parts are you moving to? It's a great area, and I miss all the public land that texas is lacking.

CJATE
We are moving to Cabot to be close to our son, his wife and new grandbaby, our first. He is stationed at Little Rock AFB and will be there for another 5 yrs, so that will
be our "tour" as well..
On the CCW, i am wondering if I just show them my CHL and pay a "small" fee, i hope to get a CCW, we'll see..
Thanks,
Jim

As I understand it I can get a UT CFP, does anyone know what that is? One guy told me there is a 120 day wait between turning in my TX. CHL and getting the AR CCW, does anyone know if that is ture?
Thanks,
Jim

If you already have a Texas CHL, you should be covered by that. You don't have to turn it in when you move. You just change the address and it becomes a non-resident permit. Texas has reciprocity with Arkansas, so you should be legal to carry there.Jim101 wrote:As I understand it I can get a UT CFP, does anyone know what that is? If you want to get a UT CFP (Utah Concealed Firearm Permit), that's a pretty easy thing to do. Utah also has reciprocity with Arkansas. You have to take a 4-6 hour class. Charles Cotton does them in south Texas. I do them in north Texas. $65.25 for a 5 year license, and then $10 for the renewal.
I don't know anything about a waiting period in Arkansas. You would need to check with them about that. Here is a link: http://www.asp.arkansas.gov/divisions/rs/rs_chl.html
