Into Uncharted Waters: SBR
Into Uncharted Waters: SBR
I'm jumping through all the required hoops so my new Sabre Defence lower can consumate its relationship with my new SD 11.5" upper.
pics soon
Looks just like this but without the perm front sight. Has fold down front and rear BUIS.
Further development of my hurricane zombie home defense system.

Double up on the ear protection.
Is that 11.5" +flash protector, or including the flash protector?

What a great looking gun! Congrats!
Does that require a special license or tax stamp due to the barrel length? I'm assuming it's semi-auto.

Yes, it requires the special tax stamp.
I'm going the trust route with the process cuz I doubt this will be my last.
No problem getting my local COP to sign, though. He comes out to hear my band once in a while and is a real standup guy.
Barrel length is a good question. I'm at work and can't measure it to see how much of it's 11.5"

Re: Into Uncharted Waters: SBR
The reason I asked, is because a 14.5" barrel plus a hard-soldered flash suppressor can equal a non-NFA 16" barrel length. The 11.5" barrel can't get to the legal length without looking silly (like an M-Faux with all that extra barrel hanging out past the front sight; go ahead, mount that bayonet!)doc540 wrote:Barrel length is a good question. For a close-quarters gun, I don't think 11.5+ has any advantage over 16" total length.

I think it might. But probably not that much.
I'd rather have my 2" Colt snub in a close quarters gunfight than a 6" Python of the same caliber.
Then, of course, being on the big flash and bang end of a short barrel AR has gotta be a real Kodak moment.

Nice stick.
I got into SBRs last year and now have more registered lowers than not. Be very careful, this is an extremely virulent variant of Black Rifle Disease and is ridiculously expensive to treat.
The 7.5" measurement is probably with out the FH. Most manufacturers measure the bbl before attaching a muzzle device.

This implies you already have both the lower and the 11.5" upper . . . I'm sure you're not keeping them under the same roof pending completed paperwork. What if it's mounted on a pistol lower?

Re: Into Uncharted Waters: SBR
Congrats on your SDI. Looks like you're going to NEED a suppressor for it. That SBR is going to get lonely on that trust all by it's lonesome. Call Rob at http://www.talonarms.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if you want to look into getting one. We carry AAC, SWR, Gemtech and YHM.
