I just finished mine yesterday.

Well... Finished as in, it can actually shoot now :thumbs2:

It's not a "black gun" really, but it's a great shooter. Got it from CMP, field grade, took almost 3 months, but it was worth it. I took it out yesterday and it shot great, very accurate and very fun. It's my first M1 Garand, after watching Gran Torino, I had to have one...

Thanks, its my carry piece as well. Its actually a Dan Wesson Valor, but it does resemble an EB Special Forces including most the internals being EB parts. The grips are blasted canvas micarta thin grips. They were originally this color:

With the texture and the very light color they were prone to getting dirty just from handling, let alone shooting. I used regular RIT fabric dye to dye them that charcoal gray. They no longer stain, and as a result of carrying/shooting the grips texture has smoothed out a little.

So many people were complaining about the grips getting dirty that Dan Wesson now uses G10 grips instead of the blasted canvas micarta.
