Looking for a 'plane jane' Mossberg 500 12

Does anyone know where, in the DFW area, I can buy a Mossberg 500 12 ga. that's not "black" for home defense? I like wood and metal, and am not at all interested in looking like Rambo. Thanks, y'all.

I am 60 and fat. I don't look like Rambo. My HD shotgun is black, but I don't parade around with it, so I don't look like Rambo. "Rambo" is a state of mind. I don't feel like Rambo. I feel like an old fat guy with a black shotgun....that only cost $249.00 brand new........because it was available in one color: Black. Kind of like a Model T. Which Rambo didn't drive either.

Interesting first post. Welcome to the forum, but here's a suggestion: try not to insult the choices of other members right out of the gate.

I bought one at Walmart a while back for right at $200. Came with a 28" ribbed vented barrel. I ordered an 18.5 " barrel from Mossberg for $90 shipped.

I have an old real wood stock and fore-end set from a Mossberg 500 that I removed to replace with black plastic parts.

Yours for $60 shipped.

Just buy a M500 and swap the parts.

Annoyed Man - Sorry - I didn't mean to insult anyone or ruffle anyone's feathers. I'm 70 and fat. I have nothing against black guns - they're just not for me.

jmra - Thanks for the tip.

A-R - Thanks, but I'll pass.

Y'all have a great Monday, OK?

Might try and find one of the field and security combos. They sometimes have wood stocks and will come with a longer and a shorter barrel. That's abotut he only time I've seen the security lenght on the shelf with wood stocks lately.

Could save the longer barrel or sell it off to cover the cost.

I gifted a used Mossberg 500 20-gauge to my brother so time ago. It had the wooden stock on it, too. He was pretty pleased about it, I'm happy to say.

Nice. Thats what I got for my plain jane home defense shotgun. Its all synthetic but for $140 at the pawn shop I wasn't going to complain.
