Nike introduced a Betsy Ross model shoe but our favorite Kneeler in Chief didn't like them, so guess who caved?

taking business advice from capernick... is like seeing Dr. Kevorkian for depression treatment.
Although in this case, I hope they continue to do so

Here's a link to the AZ Gov story referenced in the OP..
Arizona Gov. Ducey to pull Nike plant incentives over reported Colin Kaepernick, Betsy Ross flag flap
“Instead of celebrating American history the week of our nation’s independence, Nike has apparently decided that Betsy Ross is unworthy, and has bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism. It is a shameful retreat for the company. American businesses should be proud of our country’s history, not abandoning it.
“Nike has made its decision, and now we’re making ours. I’ve ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw all financial incentive dollars under their discretion that the State was providing for the company to locate here. Arizona’s economy is doing just fine without Nike. We don’t need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation’s history.
“And finally, it shouldn’t take a controversy over a shoe for our kids to know who Betsy Ross is. A founding mother. Her story should be taught in all American schools. In the meantime, it’s worth googling her.”

Cheers to Gov. Ducey!
Shame on Nike!
I can honestly say I'll never buy anything Nike again.

A has been former felon league player dictates to a multi-national company what they can and can't sell? Someone at Nike deserves a golden parachute...minus the paracord.

Every school, University, or professional organization, that uses Nike products, should go with another company, Adidas, New Balance, etc.

When I was just a kid, it was considered disrespectful to make the flag into clothing.

But first you'd have to find a school, university or professional organization that isn't infected with the socialist's agenda from top to bottom.

IT worse than you think. The former athlete did not dictate, NIKE actually listened to him.

When I was just a kid, it was considered disrespectful to make the flag into clothing.
It is also against the U.S. Flag Code of Ethics:
§8. Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

I think most people see it that way but "back in the day" (early to mid seventies), the school I attended in Pasadena, Texas had a dress code that forbid wearing clothing that was decorated as a flag.

To my foreign eyes, it seems to me that "the flag" is simply printed/embroidered/whatever onto clothing - as opposed to someone being clothed in a flag.
This is exactly correct. It's commonly misunderstood to mean that you can't wear anything with the american flag on it, and that's just silly. Wearing clothing with a flag pattern is patriotic. Taking a flag, cutting it up, and fashioning it into clothing is disrespectful.
