President Obama today shortened the sentences of a total of 214 federal inmates, which includes 67 serving life sentences. The White House wrote:The White House says it's the largest batch of commutations on a single day in more than a century.
This administration is actually proud of releasing felons back into our communities, among our families.ABC News wrote:The commutations bring to 562 the total number of sentences Obama has shortened. The White House says that's more than the past nine presidents combined. Almost 200 of those who have benefited were serving life sentences.
Now, for all I know, some may be serving decades-long sentences for possessing a half-ounce of marijuana; I can't say. But I do feel safe in saying that not all those 562 pardoned were otherwise innocent stoners who were merely dumb enough to get pulled over with a joint in the ashtray. And of those more hardened going in, let's not forget that the Ivy League for criminal education is prison.
No stats are going to be kept and, even if they were, no mainstream media would report them. What do you think the recidivism rate will be among Obama's 562+ pardons? Will any of them ever commit a violent crime? Or will they get a steady job, volunteer with a puppy rescue service and Habitat for Humanity, become a regular blood donor, and be the person everyone wants as a neighbor?
And Hillary promises an even more "progressive" administration.
