A police officer was shot by a homeowner and is in critical condition, when he entered the wrong home looking for a burglar. The homeowner's dog was shot and killed. The homeowner was also shot but appears to be in better condition.
The 911 call did not give the address of the home only that it was grey. The police searching for the burglar found an unlocked or ajar back door on a grey house and went inside.
It was also noted on other reports that this is a high crime area of Atlanta.
Of all the new Texas laws that go into effect, one concerns police training with respect to encounters with dogs.

Later reports confirm a cop shot the police officer, not the homeowner.
