Hold up @ AL Dollar Gen. Leaves BG shot by CHL
BG comes into store waving gun forcing customer and cashier towards the break room. When the customer falls in behind cashier hero ugh the door, he pulled his CH and shot BG once in the chest. He is now deceased.

Great job on saving lives. I hope they do not charge the GG because there was a no gun sign on the door. Not sure about the laws in Alabama.

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

Not sure how anyone could claim that the shooting was not justified based on the info provided. I can tell you that if you are taking me to the back room at gunpoint I'm gonna shoot ya.

We, in Texas, are blessed to have our specific 30.06 sign. In other states; e.g., Alabama, any 'ol gunbuster sign serves as notice such as the one depicted on the door in the article.CHLLady wrote:BG comes into store waving gun forcing customer and cashier towards the break room. Interesting that you DON'T have to have a license to carry Openly, but you DO if you carry concealed in Alabama.
I think he did it at the right time, the BG was probably distracted by the door and possibly other patrons. It's never a good thing when they take you to a second location. He had a chance to rob the cashier, but chose to march them to another room. Very good lesson to be learned here. We may never know his full intentions.

“No Firearm” signs in Alabama have no force of law unless they are posted on property that is specifically
mentioned in State Law as being off limits to those with a Permit/License to Carry. If you are in a place not
specifically mentioned in the law that is posted and they ask you to leave, you must leave. If you refuse to
leave then you are breaking the law and can be charged. Even if the property is not posted and you are asked
to leave you must leave. Always be aware of the possibility that responding Police Officers who may have
been called without your knowledge and may not know the laws on trespass etc. could arrest you even if you
are within the law.

I think that you'll find that to be pretty much the rule in all but a couple OC states.CHLLady wrote:Interesting that you DON'T have to have a license to carry Openly, but you DO if you carry concealed in Alabama.

Since he is now deceased, that is probably the case. I think that we can be certain that whatever his intentions were, they were bad.CHLLady wrote:Interesting that you DON'T have to have a license to carry Openly, but you DO if you carry concealed in Alabama.

This way old-fashioned way of thinking may be linked to the concept that a good guy doesn't have anything to hide.Oldgringo wrote:I think that you'll find that to be pretty much the rule in all but a couple OC states.CHLLady wrote:Interesting that you DON'T have to have a license to carry Openly, but you DO if you carry concealed in Alabama.

Mayhaps? In the OC states where we've been blessed to spend our last half dozen summers, you can wear a gun around your neck or on your forehead, but if you ain't showing it, you better have a license/permit.WildBill wrote:This way old-fashioned way of thinking may be linked to the concept that a good guy doesn't have anything to hide.Oldgringo wrote:I think that you'll find that to be pretty much the rule in all but a couple OC states.CHLLady wrote:Interesting that you DON'T have to have a license to carry Openly, but you DO if you carry concealed in Alabama.

I've been reading comments by some uninformed people on this article at the Blaze. They're ripping the cops for investigating whether the GG's license was valid. What they don't understand is this PROTECTS the GG from civil lawsuits from the BG's family! If he's valid, then he should get protection under the law. People just love to rip on cops without knowing all the facts.

Something wrong here. Police don't think that robbery was involved. So called good guy is about to go to trial for sexual offense. What am I missing?

An interesting twist.rotor wrote:Something wrong here. Police don't think that robbery was involved. So called good guy is about to go to trial for sexual offense. What am I missing?

"Jackson confirmed that Marlo Ellis, the customer who used deadly force, is facing charges of rape in the second degree and enticing a child for immoral purposes, stemming from a 2013 investigation involving a girl under the age of 16. Court documents state that Ellis picked the victim up at a school basketball game and drove her to his house where they had sex. The district attorney said Ellis' sex case is on the trial docket for February. He has been out of jail on bond."
This must be the cause behind the question of wether or not his CCW permit was valid. I would think if you were out on bond for this offense in TX you would have to surrender your CHL.

You are "missing" that this happened in Dallas County, Alabama. In Texas you would have to surrender your license after being indicted, but Alabama law is different. You only have to surrender your license only after being convicted, but not after being arrested or charged.rotor wrote:Something wrong here. Police don't think that robbery was involved. I don't know why you think that "Police don't think that robbery was involved." I read that in any post.
[District Attorney] Jackson tells WSFA that Ellis was within his rights to have a concealed carry permit because he has not been convicted of any crimes.

Some places in the world still believe in the archaic concept of innocent until proven guilty.
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.
