I don't hear of guns being recovered too often. Good deal, I hope, let us know how it goes.

Agreed, please let us know, I too am curious.

250 vs. 389? That's not a typo of pressing a 2 instead of a 3, someone wrote in the whole wrong number or copied and pasted the whole wrong number. I've never been to CTD, so I don't know if they are the type of store if you push hard enough, you can get them to honor that price or not. Did you ask about meeting you half way as a good will gesture? You might mention that you shop there and doing so will allow you to continue shopping there and to recommend the store to friends and family.

If it was your store would you honor every person that came in wanting a $250 642? It happens and typos are typically in the small print of their ads.

IN FACT FROM THE CTD WEBSITE:

9.Pricing With respect to items sold by CTD, we cannot confirm the price of an item until you order, however, we do not charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of our items may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

We had a stolen gun recovered, and we did get it back.

All we did was supply the serial number and proper ID, and went and claimed it.

As for CTD, I think they should eat the cost of their own mistake, and take it up with whoever proofed the ad.

If I was CTD and could eat it (which I assume they can), yes. Even then, I would still tell people, "I'm sorry, it's a typo" and only if they pressed on I would give a percentage off. If they kept pressing on, I would give half the difference off. If I was a mom and pop store, then no and I would tell them how "I have great prices on everything and if I gave it to you at that typo price, I wouldn't be able to afford to give you great prices on everything else", even then I'm going to be personally reviewing each ad and have a set of metrics set up estimating for me how much I'm going to make with each sale item.

If you read all the fine print at the bottom of the newspaper insert, you will find their disclaimer that they are not responsible for incorrect pricing in the ad.

I can put a sticker on my windshield that I'm not responsible for any red lights I might run. Obvious exaggeration, but IMO it still doesn't make things right.

EDIT: I imagine if I had access to Nexis Lexis, I could probably find some case law that proves that notice isn't worth the paper it's written on, but even then they could still refuse service to a customer.

I would never make that assumption. The only thing they are going to do is recoup that loss on other deals and maybe an employee loses their job. It was a simple typo. Who gets to determine who and who cannot make that deal? A big corporation or a mom/pop? Sounds like some OWS logic there. Let the big fish pay the price.

"Sounds like some OWS logic there." to me is akin to saying that I voted for Obama because it was cool or hip, but whatever.

Yes, they would recoup their losses, and if any employee was fired (I'm assuming it wouldn't happen), it would be the employee that made the mistake. Who knows what else that employee could be costing the store.

Who gets to determine? A manager. They have (and I am not assuming) the ability to make deals on behalf of the store.

I am kinda confused when you wrote "Let the big fish pay the price." That statement to me seems to support my previous statements which you seem to disagree with.
glock27 wrote:I assume its worth a dispute with the manager. and if they cant give me some kind of discount,l especially when the clerk told me that they actually did honor a few guns on that price and then they stopped. it kind of enrages me a little. there is still guns on the shelf and its still November and its still on the front page of Nov. magazine. that magazine goes out to thousands of gun lovers...

im not neccesarily a CTD fan but I have gotten a fair amount of ammo from there and 2-3 guns, walmart and academy seem to have them beat on prices but i wanna take advantage on the TYpo
Ouch - "they actually did honor a few guns on that price" - slippery slope for them. You should mention that.

Let the big fish pay is rhetoric towards your original assumption.

I could see a discount no problem. "I apologize for the mistake and I will come off a few more points for your trouble". But asking for everyone to get that price. I would be curious if the few sales at that price were without managements approval or realization of the mistake. But whatever.

:iagree: Why should a mom & pop get a pass if CTD doesn't.

Disclaimer: I don't like CTD because I think most of their dirt is priced like gold dust.
