I've gone nearly 70 years with no desire for a tattoo but now I see the Wal-Mart people, et al, with skin art all over themselves and I may just have to get beautified.

How much would a starter set of "tats" cost for me and Mrs. Oldgringo? Just askin'...

That's like asking how much a painting costs. It depends on many factors, especially the artist.

I have 3 tattoos.
Got the Texas one in 2006 I think (Bad Boyz Tattoo's Nasa Road) Left upper arm - I love Texas. I have been here since 1995 (I was about 25 when I came) and as I said, I just love Texas

Taz was my first, probably 1997 (Nasa Road - don't remember what shop and I do not think they are still open) right upper arm - I wanted to get one, wasn't sure what, and for the longest time, everyone called me Taz, and I (at the time) had Taz 'everything'. Well, not so much any more. however, since none of my tattoos are "regrets", I don't mind having it still today, but if there were a way to change it, I would, as it is "prime tattoo space!"

this is the dog laying next to me in my avatar, we had to put him down in 2008. he was the ring bearer at my wedding and my wife and I considered him our son and still introduce him (and our other 4 legged ones) as our "kids" (I-45 near Almeda Genoa, maybe Space City Tattoos) Back right shoulder

I am interested in getting another, but I never rush into one. I don't want one that someone else has, so I have (other than my first (TAZ)), I have them made for me. I am trying to decide on what picture of my dog I want to do next. I do want it to be meaningful, not just "another tattoo".

I have 5, an ambigram of my last name on my left forearm, the roman numerals xi-xii-mmvii on my right wrist, a texas flag star on my right arm just above my elbow, my sons initials and birthdate on my inner right bicep and my daughters on my left inner. The ambigram of my last name is simple, no matter how you look it its still family. The numerals 11-13-2007 is the day i almost died in a motorcycle wreck. "your shoulders are too wide and your neck is to short, your head couldnt hit the ground the way it shouldve" were the docs words. I got it on my wrist because it was the most injured. The star is also simple, born and bred Texan. My kids safest place is in my arms.

Do I have any tattoos? No. Will I ever have any tattoos? No.

As someone already said, but in different words, it is hard to gauge.

As a general guideline, if you look at my Pride and dog tattoo, they are both about 4-5 inches across, and took about 2 hours each.
They charged me about $200 for each.

the Taz was $75, but only took about 40 minutes

So a 2'" x 2" tattoo should be about $100
a 4" x 4" should be about $200, etc.
and yes, these are just estimates, and depends on who would do the work.


For anyone getting a tattoo, at the place I did the Pride tattoo, they have a sign posted that says something like
"If you really want a tattoo, it won't hurt".
Well, it HURTS, but you have to deal with the pain (or see your Dr and see if they will give you a good topical numbing agent)

Please, like you follow every rule and law. Im pretty sure the same book says not to covet thy neighbors wife, and thoughts are just as bad as actions. Youve never thought things about passing attractive women have you. Im also pretty sure that it mentions something about living in glass houses.

I do the best I can.

I got one in my younger/wilder/hippy days. It's a fiery sun with a cresent moon inside on my shoulder. I pretty much keep it covered these days.

no tattoos..
no plans on having any.
my hubby has a few.
2 of my sons have a couple..
