I hate Safari on the I-Phone. I can't see a tootin' thing and when I try to do the pinch/grab thingie on the screen all I do is annoy myself or make a gigantic font all over the screen.

Yup,
Theres no getting around it. My I-phone screen is pretty small...so naturally... text is small too.
Expanding text size by pinch/grabbing will make it as large as you like...but then you have to navigate all over the screen in order to read anything. Not a problem with small messages, but don't try to read a document on your I-phone.
Still, its pretty cool technology (basically having a hand held computer).

Maybe one of these would work? I am thinking about ordering one of these myself as my arms seem to be too short and the print too small these days.

There are two applications I know of one is Forum Runner and the other is Tapatalk. At least one of them is free for the forum owner to install for their users. It makes using the forums a lot easier and even more accessible to the readers. It would be great if the mods/administrators here would look into installing it for the users.

I know Charles looked at Tapatalk before and there was a najor security hole with it. Not sure about Forum Runner.pcgizzmo wrote:There are two applications I know of one is Forum Runner and the other is Tapatalk. Maybe Forum Runner would be a better option. Another Texas forum has theirs on tapatalk and it works pretty good but I understand about the security hole and all being an IT guy myself. I've used both and I actually prefer Forum Runner but either makes it easier to use a forum on a mobile device.

Use the atomic web browser on the iPhone.
Instead of the pinch zoom just double tap on the body of the post and that part will automatically zoom edge to edge. Make sure you are holding your phone sideways.
On the atomic browser, click the options gear and select increase font size until it reads well.
If you must use pinch-zoom, use the edges of you two fat thumbs (seems to work best for me)
Reading a post should look like this:

Re: TexasCHLForum Iphone App?
I was going to suggest forum runner at least be looked into. Because it would be alot easier to have the forum run on an app than safari. Safari is junk when trying to view the forums. Maybe one of the forum members that are in IT can whip us up a CHLforum app. i'd pay 4.99 for that.
Re: TexasCHLForum Iphone App?
The security issue with Tapatalk was fixed long ago. It was more of an issue with the installer for one particular version rather than a security issue within the Tapatalk software itself. It also only affected vBulletin forums, which this is not.

Tapatalk is great on THR and M4C. I only really read M4C with it, and that's once in a blue moon. This forum would be great on tap a talk, as its the only real one I'm super involved in.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/touchbb- ... 52610?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Description
TouchBB allows you to browse phpBB and vBulletin® forums while on the go. It is much easier to use than browsing a forum through Safari because you don't have to pinch / zoom every screen while navigating. The data that is transmitted is optimized for mobile connections.
Features:
* Inline smilies and proper topic formatting!
* Images in posts are resized to fit your screen
* Post replies and easily create new topics
* Quickly switch between different forums
* Send and receive private messages
* Internal web browser and email composer
* Use the app in portrait or landscape mode
* Supports native cut, copy and paste
* Attach photos from your device to posts
* Pagination for forums and topics
* Unread topics are highlighted
> No annoying ads or nag screens
> Support for the iPad!
TouchBB REQUIRES a simple add-on script to be uploaded to your forum directory. To find out more information on getting TouchBB to work with your phpBB or vBulletin® forum, please visit our website at http://www.messageforums.net/1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Thousands of forums from around the world are using this great utility. Why not give it a try and see how easy it is to access your forum remotely! We also have TouchBB Lite if you want to try before you buy.
A personal note to parents and guardians. As a father, I know that a 17+ rating on an application can be an instant "NO". By default, TouchBB does not include the content described by its rating. However, it can enable a minor to view or access such content. Please monitor your child's usage as with any web browser.

Re: TexasCHLForum Iphone App?
With the above being said hopefully Mr. Cotton or an Admin will look into Tapatalk, ForumRunner, or TouchBB. I love the vBulletin system. but phpBB(this forum) runs well too. if one thing is clear Safari on iPhone is not very effective in viewing the forums at all.BrianSW99 wrote:The security issue with Tapatalk was fixed long ago.
