More Americans should take this type of action. We are losing our country to those who have absolutely no respect for our flag or way of life here.

I am also a Veteran, and I find the act of flying our flag like that disgusting
Unlike others I did not serve to defend a flag or any other piece of cloth. I served to protect our home, lives and countryman who are bound together by a system of laws.
I am an American who believes in the written law and in property rights. I think that guy is a criminal and should be in Jail. Our feelings do not give us the rights beyond the law.

I pose a question. If this incident happened in Texas Would the property owner have the right to use deadly force? Would the time of day make a difference?

Whether this man is a criminal or not, I would not sentence him to jail time.

If it occurred at night, it might make a difference. Either way, I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of that jury.

I'd have sentenced him to replace the property, and possibly some anger management. People that make far more serious property crimes get away with no jail time, and I'd feel the same way about this guy.

I dont even think the "mexican" business owner thought he was doing anything wrong when he decided to fly the Mexican flag over the US flag. For all we know he was ignorant and just wanted to show his pride as well as pride in the American flag.

We often talk about "emotion" when speaking about the ignorant "anti's" yet some of us are quick to dismiss this guys emotional outburst and "THEFT" of anothers property.

IIRC, the news piece said there had been several letters / phone calls that were ignored.

Without seeing the video (low speed landline),I am curious why the veteran did not cut down the Mexican flag and leave Old Glory up.

I'd have to talk to the businessman who strung up both flags to opine if the veteran should have cut him down also.

No he walked over..snatched the line of the holder..rolled down the American flag and with a KBAR cut if off the line..then threw the line and Mexican flag on the ground...held up the American flag and clearly stated his name Jim Brossard, told us he was an American veteran and was NOT going to have his flag or his country disgraced in this way...then he challenged anyone to come take it from him with 11 3/4" of ticked off American steel 7" of which is reaaaly sharp in his hand!

I think I heard clanking as he was walking away!

I would give the guy a medal if I was on his jury

He saw a clear violation of Federal Law and corrected it. I wouldn't apologize for anything he did. I stand behind him 100%.

It is not illegal to burn, fly low or upside down or use as toilet paper. If you own a flag its pretty much legal to do what ever you want to with it. The courts have ruled that any laws prohibiting such are an infringement of the 1st amendment.Just because we find something offencive doesn't give us the right to break the law. Stealing or vandalizing another persons property is against the law. Personally there are many things I find offencive, but whether it is a tallow tree or piercing jewelry, taking anothers property is stealing. Flag burners ain't never hurt anyone, but I hate thieves. I do believe if this happened in Texas even in the day time, The flag owner would have been justified in using deadly force to protect his property.

I would disagree with that statement. The following link is the laws regarding the proper used and display of the American flag. It is illegal to fly another nations flag above the American Flag on US soil.

I know the diffrence between right and wrong, even when right happens to fall on the wrong side of the law.
