Philbo, with all due respect, do you sit around all day looking for anti trump stories? I don't get it. He's certainly no white lamb, but neither was the last pres or hilary. Even if we concede that he is a despicable human being (which I don't) he's still better than the alternative.
Even with all the ridiculousness in the news every day, everyone I know is better off today than they were 2, 4, 6 years ago- and
that is what really counts.
I do think it's funny that you expect all things said or claimed by trump to be true but don't post up the false claims of anyone else... there is a reason that there are so many jokes about politicians lying.
I'm quite sure you could find
a story or fifty about the tax cuts going to kill our economy or how only the rich will benefit or how trumps NK approach had us headed straight to war, or how his sexual misconduct (years before becoming pres) is an issue now (funny how BClinton got a pass there) or you name the silliness that's made up or just plain wrong.
You are strangely silent on these types of stories.
Flechero, with all due respect, this thread is about trumps term as president, not clinton's, bush's or obama's. When they were in office I spoke quite loudly about their inconsistencies... the difference is that there was no thread in this forum where the member's tried to whitewash, overlook and apologize for the inconsistencies of their chosen candidate. I am unwilling to give a pass, ignore, or whitewash anyone who is such a habitual liar, has attacked gold star families, repeatedly chosen to support a foreign power over his own aides and intelligence community, used deficit spending for a tax cut, give aid to farmers that his unwise policies have injured, or spent more than 20% of his time in office at his resorts playing golf while simultaneously charging tax payers millions of dollars for the privilege of enriching his own resorts. If he is good enough for you, that's great. I am not willing to settle for this sad, embarrassing wreck of a man, or his policies on nearly every issue.
If the standard of acceptance is that you are better off than you were, will your values shift with your pocket book in the future? Or, are your values and principals independent beliefs that are not for sale and do not change depending on which way the financial wind is blowing? If trump supporters are too thin skinned in their beliefs to hear criticism about their chosen leader, then the issue lies with them. So long as trump continues to put himself before this country, weaken the institutions that make up this republic, and promote a system of crony capitalism that's beginning to look a lot like socialism, I will not support this president or his policies. Further, I will openly state my opinion... even if it's unpopular with whichever flavor of sycophant is speaking.
Oh, bill clinton hardly got a pass... i believe that his lying led to his impeachment, if not the conviction he may have deserved. But, if that's a pass in your book I'm willing to allow the same pass for the current caricature of a man that is calling himself president.
