Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me---filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating,
" 'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door,
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door.
This it is, and nothing more."

The firefly's flame Is something for which science has no name
I can think of nothing eerier
Than flying around with an unidentified glow on a
person's posteerier.

I always liked this one...

'Twas midnight on the ocean,                Her children all were orphans,
Not a streetcar was in sight,                   Except one a tiny tot,
So I stepped into a cigar store                 Who had a home across the way
To ask them for a light.                        Above a vacant lot.

The man behind the counter                  As I gazed through the oaken door
Was a woman, old and gray,                  A whale went drifting by,
Who used to peddle doughnuts                Its six legs hanging in the air,
On the road to Mandalay.                        So I kissed her goodbye.

She said "Good morning, stranger",          This story has a morale
Her eyes were dry with tears,                   As you can plainly see,
As she put her head between her feet    Don't mix your gin with whiskey
And stood that way for years.                   On the deep and dark blue sea.

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
"Sir," said I, "or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you" – here I opened wide the door; –
Darkness there and nothing more.

Which reminds me. Is a "shelled" peanut IN the shell, or has it had the shell removed?
And how do they get the salt on the peanut while it's still in the shell? :headscratch

A "shelled" peanut has been removed from the shell. Kind of like a "shucked" osyter.

The raw peanuts are soaked in brine before they are roasted.

Now see, you've taken all the mystery out of it! :cryin

What about boiled peanuts?

I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Soooo... If shelled means without shells, why wouldn't salted mean without salt?

To say nothing of assaulted peanuts.
