And beat Ed Emmett, who I had a lot of respect for. It's the bluing of our urban areas. The same reason Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green have what seem to be permanent jobs. And why Lizzie Fletcher got elected in my district, 1st dem there in I don't know how long. Speaking of Fletcher, whose robocalls I get at least weekly, some of her U.S. House of Representatives caucus memberships: New Democrat Coalition, Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, Pro-Choice Caucus, and the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

If somebody has a small plot of land they're willing to give me in some wonderfully rural part of Texas, I'd be happy to move the heck away from the major cities that are all starting to look more like Chicago than anyplace in Texas.

New York City, a major hotspot in a hard-hit state, revised its death toll on Tuesday, adding 3,700 deaths to bring the city's total above 10,000. The added deaths were those who had never been tested but were presumed to have died from the disease.

They will do whatever it takes to make it look like 60,000 people died if its the last thing they do!

Am I the only one who finds it odd that Hidalgo paints herself as a champion of the downtrodden yet announces an edict that may punish those who can least afford it?
If the Child Judge's mandatory mask order for Harris County were enforced, it would then play directly in her 'police oppression of minorities' narrative. IMHO, many of the people I see in the grocery store or parks who are ignoring social distancing in parks are people of color who appear to be of a low income demographic. Now if tickets with the $1000 fine were given out indiscriminately it could easily be twisted into discrimination.
More odd is if it's an edict to make us all safer and violations are egregious to require such a punitive fine, why is she waiting another five days before implementing?

I had emailed them a couple of times wondering why that info wasn't available, though I'm sure I wasn't the only one wondering. Anyway, they obliged, and that data is now up. It is raw info only, nothing that could identify any person. About 40% of the current known fatal cases have been investigated and cleared. Over half of those who didn't make it were 75 years and older; over 75 percent were 65 and over. There are no fatalities listed, at this time, for anyone 19 years and younger. There is also data showing overall sex and race, but not correlated with age groups. There is no data for comorbidities. As more cases are cleared in days to come, the data should become more accurate.

I've been meaning to ask The Annoyed Man about something, because we're in the same boat. Masks and beards don't mix. No seal around big parts of the mask. I haven't shaved because of the Coronapocalypse, and I guarantee TAM hasn't. Maybe we need full CDC biohazard onesies in our prepper cache.

Went to the bank today. For the first time everyone besides me was wearing a mask. Still weird to wear a mask coming into a bank. Houston is starting on its fifth week of shut down. The number of new cases is not really dropping anymore, its been steady at about 230 new cases everyday. Its fortunately not going up. I'm wondering how these new cases are occurring, I don't think its from going to the grocery store or going for walks. I'm guessing its between family members. Dad got it and has given it to mom, or to one of the kids and now they have symptoms and are going and getting tested and the tests have finally come back. We will see.
