I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Why the use of infantile language?
I don't get it, unless perhaps English isn't your primary language.

"Batman license" Used by those that are afraid to assist another human being that is in trouble and those that want to demean the ones that are willing to assist.
At times, it comes across as cowards criticizing heros for doing the right thing.

Granted, the term "Batman license" is subject to interpretation.mojo84 wrote:"Batman license" Used by those that are afraid to assist another human being that is in trouble and those that want to demean the ones that are willing to assist.

I agree. My comments are regarding when it is used in a derogatory way towards those that are willing to act in an effort to save another. There's a difference in someone out looking for an opportunity to play cop or good guy and those that go about their lives and are willing to assist another if they happen upon an opportunity to do so.Oldgringo wrote:Granted, the term "Batman license" is subject to interpretation.mojo84 wrote:"Batman license" Used by those that are afraid to assist another human being that is in trouble and those that want to demean the ones that are willing to assist.

We've proven on here many times, anything can be the basis for an argument. Interestingly, "old gringo" itself is a term subject to interpretation and can be considered derogatory by some.

Re: Word use that drives you up the wall!
How to put it...
In the neighborhood I've resided in for the past 15 years, unique pronunciations of place and street names is the norm. San Feleep, Guadaloop, Kirkendoll, Tailspin, San Jahsinto or San Jack, etc. I've received not a little bit of good natured ribbing from folks back home as we prepare for our move, because I'm automatically applying a Houstonian pronunciation to Spanish and French words. Long A, short A, no e at the end, ch instead of sh, i's are i's or maybe they're e's.
Lord help me, I may be too old to change and people are going to snicker at me for decades!

"I've never met him/her".
Then add: "in my life".
Why isn't the first statement adequate?
Adding: "In my life" is redundant.
Realtor is a two syllable word, but some love to add a third syllable. These folks say: Reel-La-Turr, arrggghhhh!
