This, and quarantining people away from their homes (and the contents thereof) is more likely to result in serious civil unrest. Better to find a reasonable way to enforce "don't leave your yard" and prevent visitors. (Honestly, under the circumstances, if someone was willing to take care of my bills and other out-of-the-house chores and deliver food and other supplies, I'd sit out a three week quarantine as long as I'm allowed to use my yard too. Then again, I know I can sit and read for a solid week, which not everybody can do as easily.)

The family is still I believe OK. As long as they remain OK. We will survive this.

Right now it is a doctor, nurse and hospital crisis.

That said, we really need to require anyone who has been to an affected area not be admitted to the US until they have stayed out side the affected area for 21 days and have a normal temperature.

That is not hard to do. The airline check in people in the outbound city can make the check. With customs in the US providing a double check when they enter immigration.

Needs to be done now, not in a month, when the hospitals are turning people away.

It's official. Ebola may be transmitted by airborne particles. Researchers recommend a “powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) with a hood or helmet” that will filter 99.97% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in diameter.

She HAD A FEVER before she flew of 99.5. SHE CALLED THE CDC and the CDC told her it was OK TO FLY because it was not 100.4. She knew she had been exposed, she had a fever, and flew anyway because the idiots at the CDC said not to worry.

We are dealing with incompetent idiots heck bent on making certain this disease takes root here.

WHO study of over 3,400 confirmed cases of Ebola in West Africa shows that 12.9% of Ebola patients had no fever.

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-101 ... tml#page=1
The finding that 87.1% of those infected exhibited fever — but 12.9% did not — illustrates the challenges confronting health authorities as they struggle to contain the epidemic.

U.S. health officials have repeatedly emphasized that fever is a reliable sign of infectiousness. As a defense against the spread of the virus to this country, the Obama administration has ordered that passengers arriving from West Africa at five U.S. airports be checked for fever.
Good luck with that screening thing.

Sometimes, a stringent does of Ann Coulter is called for:

WE'LL TELL YOU HOW DANGEROUS EBOLA IS AFTER THE ELECTION
October 15, 2014
The government told us that national quarantines won't work, but then they quarantine everyone with Ebola -- or who has been near someone with Ebola, such as an entire NBC crew. To me, this suggests that there's some value in keeping people who have been near Ebola away from people who have not.

Quite obviously, the only way to protect Americans is to prevent Ebola from coming here in the first place. The problem isn't that Ebola will leap across oceans to infect Americans; it's that Obama doesn't want to protect Americans.
I can find nothing to argue with here.

I DID hear one CDC employee stand up and take responsibility for the failure of "the protocols" to prevent these two cases. I can't recall his name but he was on WFAA early this morning, and said HE had been involved in designing and setting up the protocols for Ebola several years ago. He stated the problem is NOT that the protocols are not being followed, it's that we have missed something in the protocol that is allowing this to happen. We have a flaw in our protocol somewhere that we were not aware of. I was shocked when I heard him admit that the almighty "protocol" might not be correct.

If you want some faulty logic, all you have to do is listen to the CDC head propagandist Frieden.

Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said during a telephone press briefing Wednesday that you cannot get Ebola by sitting next to someone on a bus, but that infected or exposed persons should not ride public transportation because they could transmit the disease to someone else.

From Fox News

In the same breath, barry ebola's government claims they cannot stop the 150 visa granted travelers each day from the West African countries from coming to the US.

As long as he had no direct contact with her, then there should be no risk. He would not be able to fly in a hazmat suit anyway.

I knew about this last Sunday, but was not free to discuss it publicly. A friend is a nurse at one of the DFW area Baylor hospitals. This person told us that in their pre-shift meetings a circular from the CDC was discussed which said that CDC had identified an Ebola strain that spreads by particle-borne transmission. The discussions also said that this epidemic wasn't that strain.

It may well not be, but given the pattern of deliberate obfuscation and good old fashioned incompetence exhibited by both CDC and WHO, I'm not inclined to put much faith in that claim.

All I know is that my wife, son, DIL, and granddaughter are flying out to California in early December, and my tickets are already bought and paid for; but unless this is cleared up by then, I'm having strong reservations about confining my entire family aboard an airplane departing the locus of our national Ebola outbreak.

Quarantine does not mean you will be put in a common area with other people. But it does mean that by force if needed you can be detained and held confined for let's say the 21 day period needed to be sure you are not infected. It may be necessary to quarantine exposed people and not just this stupid self monitoring. The government will have to work very fast on this. Illness like this spreads in a geometric progression and because the incubation period is so long before symptoms show it can easily come to the point where government agencies are completely overwhelmed. Right now it appears they just don't know what they are doing. It's one thing to not scare the American public but I believe they should be scared.

Your earlier statement, "This may involve gated quarantine areas." implied (at least to me) that you were talking about common quarantine areas.
