I haven't thought of this song in years! Rio Bravo and El Dorado had the same themes and they are two of my top ten favorite movies.

Chas.
You're missing the third film of the Hawks "High Noon" response trilogy, "Rio Lobo".
Though it diverges slightly more from the "Bravo" storyline than "El Dorado", no Martin/Mitchum drunken sheriff character, the other components are there. The Duke as always, Jack Elam in the Walter Brennan/Arthur Hunnicutt crusty role, Jennifer O'Neill as the pretty gal(just before rocketing to stardom in "The Summer of '42) as a tip o' the hat to "El Dorado", Mitchum's son, Christopher, is cast member.
Scenes from the films are part of the opening/backstory/montage of Wayne's last film "The Shootist".

"Rio Lobo" was the last film directed by Howard Hawks and like it's predecessors, was filmed at "Old Tucson" (studio set built for the 1939 film "Arizona") a working studio with 70 or so buildings meant to represent Tucson of 1860.
Although damaged in a fire in 1995, "Old Tucson" is still there. Tours, gunfights, saloon shows, restaurants, and shops make for a great way to spend a day if you are ever in the Tucson area.

An earlier project for Richard Thompson was Fairport Convention(Linda appeared on their last album)an "electric" folk band.
Here's "Matty Groves", a murder lament from the early 17th century. It tells the story of a noble woman found by her husband to be engaged in an intimate affair with a common lad.

In it's original form it was one of the "Child Ballads" collected and published by Francis James Child in 1882.
When a much younger man I learned of the "Child Ballads" while enjoying a warm beverage, the company of a bright-eyed lass from Blighty and the perusal of "The Ballad as Song" by Bertrand Harris Bronson, on a cold and rainy Philadelphia afternoon and evening.
There surely isn't a finer way to gain an appreciation of another culture.

Yet another thing to pursue. Thanks for the link!

I got to see Lee Michaels and Frosty in concert!

It's too bad that most of his stuff is out of print and hard to find.

Brandon Rhyder's version of "Lord I Hope This Day is Good". Love it.

Came across this one today and I don't think I've heard it since it was on the radio 7 years ago.

It's amazing to see how much more relevant song has become to me over those years.

I've been truly blessed in life, and still there are times I wish I could go back and slap some sense into my head.

Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitarists includes;
#2 Eric Clapton, #3 Jimmy Page, #5 Jeff Beck.
And they were all Yardbirds.

Clapton left to stay true to the Blues, Beck got the boot, and Page inflated a Pb balloon.
