Skyfall
I just saw the Bond flick, Skyfall. Wow, just Wow. Best Bond pic in ages. Lots of guns, beautiful people and a great plot. The stunts were amazing. Definitely one for those who like action movies.

Re: Skyfall
Great movie. Liked Casino Royale a bit better, but this is definitely a great one. My big gripe is Sam Mendes' direction was VERY derivative of Chris Nolan's Batman films and Inception, even the music and some set pieces and wide shots not to mention the whole Skyfall back story.
Daniel Craig is by far the best Bond ever (and I was a die hard Sean Connery fan before this)
And loved that they brought back so much of the classic Bond touches that they'd left out of the first 2 Craig movies

Re: Skyfall
I did laugh out loud in theater when that guy jumped out of the crashed car and unloaded full-auto on Bond with that Glock 18 and 100-round beta mag - wonder where he'd had that concealed ?
Re: Skyfall
Yes lots of Glock action and many EBR's to see. Had to smile at the scene you mentioned even as Bond was popping back with his .380 and one spare magazine. The acknowledgement of the past and setting things up for the future was nicely handled. If they could have cast Connery in the role that Albert Finney had it would have been perfect.

Saw it last night, good movie.
Yeah, don't know why but I was expecting Sean Connery to appear when that character made his entrance.rwg3 wrote:If they could have cast Connery in the role that Albert Finney had it would have been perfect.

Re: Skyfall
My one gripe about the movie was the Walther that was 'encoded' to Bond's palm print so that he is the only one who could fire it.

Yeah I wish he'd tried to fire it while wearing gloves to show the stupidity of such a "safety" deviceKC5AV wrote:My one gripe about the movie was the Walther that was 'encoded' to Bond's palm print so that he is the only one who could fire it.

The payoff in the movie was not worth it. Worse chekhov gun ever.A-R wrote:Yeah I wish he'd tried to fire it while wearing gloves to show the stupidity of such a "safety" deviceKC5AV wrote:My one gripe about the movie was the Walther that was 'encoded' to Bond's palm print so that he is the only one who could fire it.
This movie felt heavily influenced by Christopher Nolan. The abandoned city reminded me of the third act in Inception. And the bad guy reminded me of the joker.
Not that this is a bad thing mind you.

IIRC, the Skyfall movie's preview shows James Bond being given his PPKS and it's described as a "9MM short". Anyone else see this?rwg3 wrote:Yes lots of Glock action and many EBR's to see. Re: Skyfall
That's the correct caliber - its called .380 Auto in USA but 9mm kurz or short in Europesurprise_i'm_armed wrote:IIRC, the Skyfall movie's preview shows James Bond being given his PPKS and it's described as a "9MM short". A-R:
Is a "9MM Kurz" the same as a 9MM Makarov ( 9 x 18MM)?

Re: Skyfall
No, Makarov is yet another different 9mm chambering. Basically you have 9x17 (aka Kurtz/short/.380), 9x18 (makarov), 9x19 (aka NATO/Lugar/Parabellum - this is standard 9mm in USA), and I think there is now also a 9x21, 9x23 (largo), and the similar sized .38 Supersurprise_i'm_armed wrote:A-R:
