Aw shucks. Glad I started it.

There have been a lot of fantastic stuff put in here by yall. I've enjoyed seeing others song selections too. :tiphat:
:iagree: Thanks to Novaman for starting the thread and Charles for the thumbs up. At least I hope you liked some of my posts. I could keep it going for a year on my own. ;-)

Alright, since everyone else has posted multiples I guess I'll jump in too. "rlol"

Hard to pick just one from these bands.....when I was growing up, any time we did house work or anything my parents would hook up their massive waist high speakers and blast music from Chicago, Boston, Journey, the Eagles......so that's my childhood memory music.

Love them all, but Chicago holds a special place with me. It's probably my Dad's favorite band, and since we both played trumpet, we both really enjoy the brass section stuff in their music. I chose this song in particular because my mom always told me it reminded her of her college days. Since I thought the song was about drugs "Should I try to do some more" etc, this confused me. When I told her that, she laughed and said it was about her late nights studying. She was in a major that started well over 100 people, and graduated less than 15. For her, it was about staying up late studying, not drugs. Ooppss.

25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago:

Since I've shared a couple of songs that remind me of family, I guess I can do a couple that are just important to me.

Red Hot Chili Peppers got me into playing Bass guitar. I had never heard bass played almost as a counter melody before instead of just rhythm, and I loved it. All their stuff is good, but the first song I really noticed the bass line as a vitally important and unique part of the song as opposed to just "background" was this one:

Scar Tissue by RHCP:

Another one that always hits me emotionally is "The Freshman" by The Verve Pipe. Its a fairly depressing song about the singer's girlfriend and the choices they made, but my own interpretation is more about the innocence of youth and the tragedy of young lives cut short. It always reminds me of friends that I've lost to car crashes, Iraq/Afghanistan, cancer, etc that all died too young. Very bittersweet song, but I love it anyway.

Cool. I just started learning Bass. My guitar teacher is a hoot. For all the world he looks and sounds like Jack Black. He had me practicing some last week and I stuttered a few and he said Come on everyone says playing Bass is easier... It's only got 4 strings! Then he leaned a little close and said They lie!

Getting back on topic he introduced me to this group... Morphine. Drums, Bass and a Sax

Another Bass fav... you can't go wrong with Filter and Hey Man Nice Shot!

I sold my bass a few years ago...hadn't played it in a while and could use the money for other things.

Some day I'll get back into it. When I have time and money.....so in 40 years or so, probably. "rlol"

One of my car buddies said a long time ago:

"Cars and guns.....all I need is a cocaine habit and I'd have 3 of the most expensive hobbies a man can have!"

Of course, several folks have pointed out that planes and boats are even more expensive since then, but I still think he has a point. :biggrinjester:
