"Amarillo by Morning". I like that one when I am on the interstate traveling from job site to job site.

"Always on my mind". I prefer the Willie Nelson version to the Elvis version, but they are both good.

I can see that... I'll have to add it to my "on the road" playlist.

The song that gets me every time is
Poison, Something to Believe in.
The line that gets me is, "My best friend died a lonely man, in a Palm Springs hotel room.
I got the call last Chistmas eve, when they told me the news".

I got a phone call on Christmas eve 1998, that my father had passed away.

That line gets me every time.

Nessun dorma from Puccini's opera Turandot - for me, most especially, when sung by Pavarotti.

It's available on the internet and will bring tears to your eyes. It's only 3 minutes and a few seconds long.

As a younger guy, I thought opera was a whole lot of jittery screaming and yes, some of it is, but not Nessun dorma.

"Escapist" by Nightwish. I'm kind of a dreamer (just ask my coworker with whom I just had a long conversation about the feasibility of an orbital burrito delivery service "rlol") so it describes some of my mindset.

There a LOT of songs I get emotional with though.

Your ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Also, Nightwish is great.

J.R.@A&M wrote:As a piano player and youngish baby boomer, I've always been partial to tunes like "Let It Be" and "Imagine". The latter, by John Lennon, is one of the most soulful and beautiful songs that I know of. But it is also one of the most stupid and dangerously naive messages that I know of. "Imagine no possessions... nothing to kill or die for..." Oh realllllly? Well, first just tell me who controls the water supply, and then we'll see. Do away with property rights, and while we're at it, do away with traditional constraints on human evil ("and no religion, too") and we'll see what kind of a peaceful utopia results. Probably one that Pol Pot would approve of.
