Come to think of it, I'd rather have a CHL badge. ;-)

That reminds me... For my senior year of high school, I attended a small private school in Walnut Creek, CA. One of the teachers ("religion" or "culture" or some such topic) there was about the most soft-spoken person I've ever met, and probably the last person I would have ever expected to have a tattoo. I no longer remember why the senior class was on the beach, but I recall seeing him & his wife walking along the shore wearing just their swimming suits, and he had the biggest tat I've ever seen across his chest. It turns out he used to be in the Air Force training pilots how to survive off the land and evade enemy capture, and his tat was the insignia from that unit. (Needless to say, when the senior class went to camp for a week and we were playing a giant game of hide & seek, I made sure I was on his team.)
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Basically both arms are half sleeved. Also a big piece on my stomach and my back. No more, wife cut me off. They are great, and I love them, and I dont regret them.... but I am fine with not getting anymore. Definately a military thing.

Several years ago I was working as a technical trainer and conducting some on site training at a telephone garage on Long Island. I arrived every morning wearing a sport coat, slacks, and long sleeve shirt with a tie. In recognition of the weather, a hazy Long Island summer, the jacket came off as soon as class started, but I never even unbuttoned the sleeves of the shirt - something about being raised the way I was, ties are for long sleeved shirts, and long sleeved dress shirts only have buttons at the cuffs to ease getting them on and off, never to be rolled up - at ;least that's what my grandpappy taught me.

I found out that there was a rumor going around among my students that the reason I wore the long sleeves was to hide a collection of tattoos, I did wear an earring and there was also speculation about that. I did nothing during the week to disabuse them of their misapprehension.

On Friday we had "Dress Down" day, and I showed up in Jeans and a t-shirt. Boy were there some astonished people in my class, and the ones that had money on tattoos were mad at me for betraying them.

I told them that I had gone to a tattoo parlor once, but they had refused to try to tattoo me because they couldn't find my arm under all the hair. They believed me.

I have an autographed Tatu. I'll trade it for a Nolan Ryan rookie card. . .

When I joined the Army in 1967 my mom made me promise not to get a tattoo. I told her I wouldn't and 44 years later I've kept my promise and see no reason to go back on my word.

Never got one but came close a couple of times. A friend of mine started a shop and got quite good at it. He offered to give me one for free but I declined. I like the looks of them on others but can't see myself doing it. I tell my daughters that I will get one if I win a lottery.

Got my fraternity letters 22 years ago. Pretty nondescript.

Now have a son in college who has talked of getting one. Told him if he did, then I would get the exact same one in the exact same place.

Nothing against them, just never felt like adding to the collection...of 1.

Back when I worked in the ER, I had a coworker for a few months (he was apparently just passin' through) who had been recently discharged from the Navy after serving a couple of enlistments (this was in about 1980). He told us he had a tattoo (I never saw it) on his butt. According to his story, he and a Navy buddy were drunk on shore leave in San Diego and had decided to get tattoos. But before they ever made it to the tattoo parlor—there being a lot of bars between wherever they were and the tattoo parlor toward which they were headed—my coworker had passed out cold. The next morning, he awoke back at their hotel room with a terrible hangover. He got in the shower, and he noticed that his right buttock stung when the hot water hit it. Still being in a fog, he assumed that he had fallen during the previous night's festivities and had landed on his posterior, sustaining a mild bruise and/or abrasion, and he didn't really look to see what was wrong. But when he dried off with the towel, it hurt to pat that spot dry, and it reinforced his suspicions.

A couple of days go by and our hero finds himself sober and more alert. Showering and drying off still causes stinging. He finally decides to take a look in the mirror to see how bad this scuff on his butt is and, lo and behold, he discovers that he is the proud owner of a new tattoo where there had previously not been one. On his right buttock was a cartoon image of Elmer Fudd, pointing a shotgun at his nether regions, and saying "come outta deah you siwwy wabbit!"

Not his finest hour.

This is too funny! :biggrinjester:

I don't have any tats because quite honestly I cannot think of anything I would want on my body at 30ish that I would still want at 80ish. That and I could only imagine what would happen to a tat on a preggers body (I suppose I could put a tat on my arm or my wrist because that does not expand very much but every where else makes room for baby)--that would be a sight to see! Nothing against tats--just a the logistics of it never appealed to me.

I have four tats, tribal art on my right leg, a cobra wrapped around my left leg with his hood spread on the calf, a leather arm band with feathers on my left arm, and a zipper on my right shoulder. The only one with a real "story" is my zipper tattoo. Following my third major shoulder surgery, I had a pretty ugly scar down the back of my shoulder. I got the artist to cover the scar with a zipper, hopefully that will make it easier for the next surgery. :biggrinjester:

For those of you asking about the cost of a tat.............NEVER budget shop for tattoos or a taxidermist, it's supposed to last forever.
