Hasta la Vista, Netflix

#1

Post by tacticool »

I'm canceling before my next bill, thanks to the second price increase in one year.

What new (2009+) movies available on DVD (or Netflix streaming) are "must see" before I pull the plug? I was browsing Rotten Tomatoes and some other sites, but their top recommendations didn't grab my interest.
Maybe a more like minded crowd can give me better suggestions. :fire

I'll probably be leaving Netflix as well.

Ditto. Already suspended service temporarily.

On my free look, haven't decided to keep it yet, I have two days.
I have seemed to use it a lot. But not sure if I will after the newness wears off.
I have the internet viewing only.
About the same price as the speed channel from the cable company.

I am a recent subscriber -- subscribed about the time everybody else was leaving. :banghead:

At first I was excited, but have been disappointed in the selection of movies. Apparently, they don't get the newly released (on DVD) movies? Seems a little strange when they list movies from the 1980's as "recently added". Also, got an urge in the first few days to watch the original "Planet of the Apes" series, only to find out it was only available on DVD -- not streaming. And I'm not going to double my payments just to shlep DVDs back and forth in the mail.

Although, I have gotten involved in the "Breaking Bad" TV series, which I find absolutely fascinating. I'll have to catch up with the last two seasons before canceling.

After four years, this is my last month as well. Between the price increase, and the plan to split DVD & streaming into completely separate services & websites, the time has come for us to say sayonara. Too bad CBS doesn't have a Roku channel.

I went to the streaming only option about 5 min. ago.

I'm not sure that I'm ready to give up on them and go back to Blockbuster who has been raping people for years with their outrageous late fees and such. I am going to be watching Amazon Prime to see what their movie selection looks like.

Going back to Blockbuster will be my absolute last option, and I think there are just going to be more and more options in the near future.

Yes it does. It is one of the best series I have kept up with. IMHO.

If you have Amazon Prime, online streaming is free. That, combined with my AppleTV is all I need. If they don't have it, I don't need to see it that bad.

Two dvd's at a time for $12/month. What's not to like about that?

I've been a subscriber for almost 15 years. I'm not really that upset by the change. Do I think it could have been handled better? Yes, I do. But I also think that this was inevitable.
