Remember how bin Laden met his: as a coward using a woman as a human shield.
Not to give him any credit, but it stated 'one of the adult males', not Bin Laden. No matter, collateral in these type of events is many times unavoidable.

Good riddance and keep the effort ongoing to break this and any other terrorist networks down. :patriot:

It gives me great joy to know that the last thing he saw on this earth was the face and flag of an American Special Forces Soldier. :patriot: :patriot:

Now ya know where Jack has been. BTW, he called a few minutes ago with the "rest of the story". Said the body was not really dumped in the ocean, but placed in pre-prepared grave in the middle of a livestock operation in Kansas. ;-)

Today is a great day to be an American! Another great job by our brave men and women overseas! The fact that it was a bullet fired up close and personal and not a bomb delivered from 15k feet proves our resolve.
What I've heard: It was Seal Team 6 that conducted the operation and that they were on loan to the CIA. The Pakistan Govenrnmet knew nothing of the operation. Ha...Ha...The body was taken so that he could not be buried and his grave site turned into some kind of memorial. Also, heard that Saudi Arabia was offerd the body but they didn't want it. Who could blame them? The Navy also reportedly has held onto a piece of the body for DNA anaylsis to prove it was him.
The intel was gathered from a Gitmo detainee.
I'm sad to see the political rhetoric that is already being thrown around from both sides.

I'm looking forward to read detailed accounts of how this went down. I can only imagine what the bad guys thought when they first heard the helicopters coming. Osama must have known his body gaurds would be next to worthless and hopefully he had time to know his end was at hand.

Here's a pretty detailed account. It doesn't claim DNA as identification, but facial recognition software.

I would just like to remind everyone of a George W. Bush quote from 2002.
"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

That is taken totally out of context. Getting the individual man was not his main focus, fightinhg terrorism and breaking up their networks overall was. Read this http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1244536/posts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the quote sumed it up pretty well, in 2008 Obama made a promise to make it a priority to capture UBL, he kept his promise. I understand the point Bush was trying to make, that the War on Terror was bigger than one man but I think he took his eyes of a huge target that should of been a priority from day 1.

...Camel bin Laden was not a huge target...he was a hood ornament...and Bush didn't say they weren't looking for him under every clump of camel dung in the Middle East...he said that he was focused on the real enemy...radical Islam, no matter where you find it...

Bin Laden has been a thorn in the counter terrorism community's side for well over 20 years. 9/11 was just a major hit and brought more political focus on getting him out of the picture, and hence more support from those that make the decisions. Prior to George W. authorizing the assassination of Bin Laden it was illegal to assassinate ANYONE in the world. So, this is not something Obama got accomplished, it is an ongoing task where our Counter Terrorism community was finally able to get enough Intel and leads to pin down his location and our excellent trained military special forces were able to complete.
