It was an exciting game, to say the least.

Our back 4 need to figure out man marking.... :totap:

Tim Howard is a beast! He deserved Man of the Match, hands down. :clapping:
:iagree:; HOWEVER Howard needs to play his goal kicks to his Fullbacks rather than the middle of the pitch. Kicks to midfield kept coming back as attacks on the US goal and didn't give the US Fullbacks a chance to advance the ball to the US Midfielders so that they could advance the ball to their Wings and launch concerted 5 across attacks on the English goal.

Who said I didn't know nothing about Futball?

I'd have to disagree that we need to give it to the wingers.

In the friendlies leading up the the Cup and some in the English game (though we didn't have much real production at all) all of our great opportunities or goals came from runs or passes to the inside and center. The one thing we continued to try over and over again that did NOT work for us was dumping it off outside to the wingers, letting them dribble down to the corner and either crossing it to no effect or letting them lose the ball in the corner.

We should only be distributing to the wingers to spread out the defense, allowing us to pass back to center mids, let forwards make runs to the inside, and see what we can do. Altidore proved he's fast and tough enough....now we just need to hook him up with some good opportunities.

Precisely, and Wings can likewise receive a pass from the middle to make a run on the goal...

The US team was robbed of a victory today! This referee was blatantly opposed to the US for some apparent political reason. His blown and/or neglected calls were way beyond incompetance. Watch it out on the news tonight.

It was a disgusting call. But, with a good showing in our last game, we should advance anyway!

Group C is interesting. Who thought Slovenia would have as many points as England and USA combined?
This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

All the groups are kinda crazy this year. Who thought Italy would be sitting on 2 points in their group?

Or the french would whine and threaten to pick up their toys and go home because they're not winning?

Well, okay I guess the french whining thing was a pretty sure bet....

Apparently when the French Soccer team plane laned in South Africa the locals could tell because it was the only plane that kept on whining after the engines were shut off . "rlol"

Really disappointed in the England side, so unimpressive after such a big build up. I am howver very impressed with the USA team. I think thye will make it to the next round fairly easily. :patriot:

Good game too (ignoring some calls and dirty play), outplayed Algeria the whole game.
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

I kept looking for the right wing. When all of the strikers gang up in front of the goal, where do the defenders also gang up?

I'm very glad for the overdue victory but the front line has to spread out and the defenders have to do a better job of marking their opposition if we are to move forward through the next round. BTW, IANASP.
