Texas State Guard

I am in the process of getting in..my paperwork is good to go but has been stalled due to mitigating circumstances...however I have been on 2 drills with my unit. [photos to come]

I am former military (USMC) and even though my unit personnel come from all walks of life and are a hodgepodge of people/skills/backgrounds/training, I can say this for 100% certain. They are a highly motivated and dedicated group of individuals setting the bar to a high standard for their mission. They are dedicated and professional and from what I have seen capable of handling any situation that may arise with precision and tact and professionalism of darn near any "active duty" service. We may not have alot in the terms of equipment, but they make up for it in heart and determination.

I know this was sometime ago - but, have you finished your paperwork yet? Can you describe the process a little more in detail. I spent sometime this past Sunday talking with the recruiter - Did you ever post pictures yet?...

Who's eligible to join:

1. Resident of Texas or enrolled student
2. Age 17 to 59
3. Reasonable Good Health
4. Pass criminal background check
5. Prior Military Service not required
6. Any skill set (Police, Rescue, Medical, and Communications very welcome)
7. No educational requirement for enlistment
8. Educational and age requirements exist for officer commissioning

I'm swearing in..I'm the one on the end of the line furthest from camera

Once you talk to a recruiter..you start your paperwork, you get fingerprints, stuff like that...really not that difficult

Can somone who is in the Texas State Guard explain to me the Tuition Reimbursement Policy for college education? I will be taking seminary classes for a degree in Religious Education and would this be covered? If so, how much is covered?...

i believe the reimbursement program is for accredited colleges. Basically the way it was stated to me is they start with a pile of applications for reimbursements and keep going until the money runs out. sometimes there is lots of money and sometimes there is a little money. One has to be in the TXSG for 6 months before being eligible.

which regiment are you trying to contact? sometimes it can take awhile, maybe I can help you out.

i am not familiar with the recruiter for that regiment. sorry. i would like to encourage both prior military and non prior military folks to check us out. we need the man power, and while it is a noble cause we also have fun participating.

I know the last post was a long time ago but I'm wondering about the Medical Brigade of TSG. Is there anyone out there with some info like, pros & cons compare to other units? The basic training, where, how long, ....?
