Masks now required for voting
A liberal Federal Judge in San Antonio struck down Gov. Abbott’s “exemption number 8” in his mask order that excluded “ any person who is voting, assisting a voter, serving as a poll watcher, or actively administering an election.”

Unless the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals overturns the order, poll
watchers, poll workers, and voters have to wear masks.

All our local polls required masks but has each person step in front of a huge plexi shield and lower the mask monetarily so the poll worker could compare TXDL and person.

I voted early last week, without a mask and without my firearm. Small victories.

And if I don't, since its a federal judge's order, will the FBI come after me?
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.
Re: Masks now required for voting
Is one still required if I'm in the booth thingy and there isn't anyone within 6 feet of me?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Not so much a federal judge’s order as it is an invalidation of a section in the governor’s mandate. The judge is not mandating masks, rather he is claiming one of the gov’s exemptions puts an extra burden on P(s)OC.

I hope the judge can explain to all of us how NOT requiring something is a burden on anyone. I could see how requiring masks is a burden, but exempting people from it? That makes no sense.

The order by U.S. District Judge Jason Pulliam, appointed by President Donald Trump, voided an exemption for polling sites that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had included in his statewide mask mandate.
The exemption, Pulliam ruled, violates the Voting Rights Act “because it creates a discriminatory burden on Black and Latino voters.”
The pandemic has disproportionately affected minorities, placing them at higher risk of severe illness and death and forcing them to make “the unfortunate choice required between voting and minimizing their risk” of exposure under Abbott’s poll exemption, the judge wrote.

Re: Masks now required for voting
I voted in Collin county. They had a sign that said masks required. So I walk up to the poll worker with mask on and hand him my ID. He was behind plexiglass and also wearing a mask. He took my DL and without even looking at me ran it through computer and set me up. I could have been anyone using a fake ID and I rolled right through. It did bother me but not being much of a "Karen", I never said anything to them about it. They just work the polls. The methods and rules are simply handed down to them. I fear a lot of voter fraud in this election. Both mail in and in person.

That's the way it went for me, but I didn't even think about the mask obscuring my face. DUH03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:08 am I voted in Collin county. The man in front of me didn't wear a mask and nothing was said to him about it. Not wearing a mask in Ellis county is not that big a deal.

i voted in collin county. had to wear a mask. guy behind his plexiglass asks for my photo id, so i hold it up. he says "flip it around" and scans the bar code, then says "go over there" (to sign in). i said "what's the point of photo id if i'm wearing a mask and you can't see my face??" all i got back was a *deer in the headlights* look. whatever. in and out in 10 minutes.

Pretty much the same here as the 2 above posts.. Collin county... Walked in with mask... Handed the gal my ID. She scanned and pointed to a booth... In and out in 10 minutes... No Muss, No Fuss.... Had more fun on the way out as a young woman was very loudly saying TRUMP 2020 whilst walking past an old man holding up a Biden sign....

Even more challenging is trying to figure out how it only places that additional burden on black and Latino voters, but Asian, white, and all others are unaffectedsrothstein wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 1:50 amI hope the judge can explain to all of us how NOT requiring something is a burden on anyone.
