It seems that in times of disaster, this country always pulls together. Look at the weeks after 911, Katrina, Harvey just to name a few. It was black helping white, white helping hispanic, it didn't matter what color someone was, human nature and values that were installed in each of us years ago took over.
Where a part of the problem lies is that after the dust settles, the left is always trying to blame others for the disaster or for not responding fast enough.
Sad to say, this country is headed toward another civil war/revolution. Maybe not in my lifetime, but surely in my kids or grandkids lifetime.
What gets me is the total hate and destruction that is being done, not only to those on opposite party lines but to the same party, same races, and within their own neighborhoods, over our president getting elected, much less any of his policies.
Sad days coming.

I'm not going to throw in the towel.

Is communism and it's variants going to do us in?

Not on my watch.

You want what?

Get a job, earn it.

Rather bemoan your fate and wallow in wanting what you've not earned?

Want to fight me about it?

I'm ready.

Are you?

Thank you, Abraham. Because a lot of these posts seem to me that folks are falling for the demoralization pushed by the mass news media propaganda machine. They WANT people to give up. They WANT everyone to throw in the towel, throw up their hands, and just lay down and die. Are things perfect peachy-keen? We all know they aren't...but the bad guys only win when we all stop fighting. I think of General Washington's troops at Valley Forge, holding on during that terrible winter. Or of the Texians at the Alamo. They didn't make it, but because of their deeds, here we are today, the Great State of Texas. The 101st Airborne, too, sat cold in their foxholes at Bastogne, surrounded. They held on, and kept fighting, despite what was arrayed against them. There've been a lot of terrible situations when all seemed lost, but some held firm, and that made all the difference. I'd like to think that enough good folks will hold on now, and see us through these trying times. :txflag: :patriot:

We are Not A Democracy, democracies are doomed to failure, basically they are mob rule!
We are a Constitutional Republic, rule of law applies equally to all from the poorest man to the richest corporate mogul, from your average blue collar worker to the President of the United States the law applies to everybody. We currently have a segment of our society that have lost their minds, they are pushing violence, socialism, and anarchy. We have the media backing this lunacy with hysteria of their own! We have the once premier law enforcement agency working against a duly elected Presient, they have been found out and exposed to the public without consequences! Until the rule of law is enforced and the crimes across the spectrum are punished we will continue to devolve towards anarchy, time will tell where this will end up, but I do fear for my grandchildren's future!
Dear Lord if there is to be trouble let be in my time so that my grandchildren may live in peace Amen.
Government, like fire is a dangerous servant and a fearful master
If you ain't paranoid you ain't paying attention
Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war let it begin here- John Parker

I have neither lost faith nor given up. But at the same time I call it like I see it.

I too sense another civil war coming, and believe it is already well under way culturally.

I’d never root for that, or an “event” that might pull us all together again. I pray for our country every day. I’m so thankful Trump is in office, as I think we’d be far down the road to ruin with the alternative....

Don’t listen to rotor, he’s REALLY old. But I’m only 10 years older than the OP, and I came the same conclusion about 10 years ago, so he’s right on track.

I joke, but you guys are right, and it’s scary as hades. I personally believe that - as a nation - we’re toast. On one hand, the detached side of me says “nations come and go, why is ours any different?” ....but the involved and caring side of me is worried and trying to figure how to navigate what’s coming. Another part of me prays that, if all of this has to come crashing down, it will happen on my watch, so that my precious grandchildren don’t have to deal with it.

I think it's too late to change much. But I do agree that we have enjoyed more prosperity and opportunities than previous generations. I am 40, and to be honest we have failed to hold our government accountable for quite a while...to the point that I'm afraid there is no return. I'm okay with a reboot... but I do not have kids so it's easier for me to say. I do feel bad for the younger kids... but I think a reboot will be better than the alternative. On the other hand, if this is what they want... why shouldn't they have it? It's not like I have done my part to REALLY hold my government accountable...few of us have. We would be called terrorists if we actually did.

I'm essentially the same age as the OP and I agree 100%. The road this nation is headed down is not sustainable and it's not workable for much longer. Even more frightening is that I don't see any good way out of this. We let it get too far out of hand.

Every night I pray I'm wrong. But I don't think I am.

I think about this a lot. What exactly does the Constitution mean anymore? The courts literally make up rights that aren't there, and all but ignore those that are (i.e. 2nd Amendment). I know we had Heller but they've refused to hear several cases testing it since. I'm happy to fight for it but not if it's going to continue to be re-interpreted every five years in ways I find abhorrent.

I think our courts have done a lot to corrupt our Republic. I am no attorney nor highly educated individual but I like to think I have good common sense. For over 30 years I have held the opinion that " Case Law" is unconstitutional. I do not believe our founders intended our courts to create law but we have allowed them to do so without rebuttal. Okay, off my little insignificant soap box. Yes, this is one of my pet peeves.
