The smell of alkali on the breeze off of a dry lake bed.
The aromatic bouquet of sage, the leaves crushed as you pushed your horse through the brush and scrub.
Cow grilling on a mesquite fire.
Unfortunately that original Joy formulation is no longer available to due the unavailability of some of the materials.
Yeah, the whole EU hyper-nanny state allergens brouhaha is pathetic. Jean Patou, post Proctor & Gamble, has made great strides in reviving "Joy".
IFRA and EU regulations forcing the reformulation of Patou, Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent classic scents will create more problems for Brussels than they know!

Homemade honey wheat bread. My mother used to grind the wheat up and bake a dozen or so loaves at a time. She had to because my 2 brothers and I would each steal a loaf as soon as it was cool enough to touch. Tear a hole in the top of it and spread some butter in it? We were in heaven!

I spent high school and college working in Ace Hardware stores. I can walk into any mom-n-pop Ace store today, and the smell instantaneously takes me back in time....40 years later.

camels or Marlboros always remind me of fishing with my grandpa. I don't know which they are because I never smoked them. Maybe even Doral? But probably just whatever was cheapest that week.

The smell of spilled gasoline on a dirty lawnmower. It's uniquely different from gasoline spilled at the pump. Something about the way it blends with the smell of grass clippings and dirt. Reminds me of the old green grasshopper mower that I used growing up.

Also horse manure. I didn't grow up around horses, but came across the waste on occasion on trail rides on vacation or on campouts.

Hoppes #9

Always reminds me of quail and pheasant hunting with my Grandfather. After a day out hunting to come back and clean our shotguns together. He was the one most responsible for my interest in guns and hunting. He also gave me my first shotgun ,a 20gauge Ithaca model 37, for Christmas '77 when I was 12. He had one just like it(older) and always hunted with it.

Skunk, grits, or the smell of deep woods after the rain.

Homemade cookies. It reminds me of when I was a kid riding my bike to my aunts house. She would always make them for us.

Fresh baled hay when stacked in the barn. As kids we would play for hours building forts and tunnels in the bales.
