While it was down I contacted my rep and emailed the governor. Seem to be a popular option.

Thanks for keeping us informed and getting us back on line.
I hope there is something that you have done or can do to prevent this from happening again.

That was my first suspicion when I saw how the site was behaving.

Any leads on the source?

What I suspected.

Any way to track down who did it?

We've been having DDoS attacks in the last few weeks here at work. I believe its near impossible to locate the source.

Confirmed on the DDoS. Yes, we are aware of the source(s) of the malicious traffic and have taken appropriate action. No, I won't publicly disclose more than that.

But here's the really good news. Your board operator (Charles) has taken some very smart steps to help boost performance and resiliency. This should result in overall faster loading on the forum, as well as the ability to weather future storms with less dramatic impact to you, the users. A large forum with a multi-GB database and long history is not a trivial operation. It can be further complicated with that site can be considered a target. And quite frankly, it doesn't take much these days to be labeled a target. With the measures that are being put into place, these factors should be less of an issue.

Thanks for the update and glad you were able to identify the source. I really hope they will suffer consequences.

Also appreciate Charles taking the steps to improve things.

Chris and his folks did a great job addressing this problem and his customer support is outstanding. I know it was frustrating for the Members and it was for me also, but Chris was on top of it. The fact that it took from Friday until yesterday to do everything to address this problem gives some idea just how bad it was.

Thanks Chris,
Chas.
