Looks as if the hosting provider may have found and fixed the problem. Seems to be responding normally for the first time since yesterday evening. Once I started seeing "connection reset" errors I began doing an occasional ping and tracert, and the pipes and the server itself seemed to have been running properly. Longest average latency to Houston was 63ms, average was in the mid-40s. So I suspect it had something to do with configuration of the Apache instance or its connection to SQL.Charles L.
